Typical great song from Seether. I think SR65 is pretty close on the idea that he lied and is feeling bad about it, but to me there's more to it than that. This may be way off base, but the way I see it he did something that he thought would hurt the other person but the person wants to believe the best instead of the truth so he let them believe what they wanted rather than hurting them (Though I'm closer to wrong I'm no further from right... The deception you show is your own paradise) Now he wants to tell the truth but he knows that if he does it will just complicate things more and hurt the person worse so he has to live with both the original act and the lie. The first time I heard this song it immediately reminded me of something that happened to me. My girlfriend and I had an argument so I went out with her best friend. The next day she called and apologized and we got back together, but I didn't tell her about going out with her friend. Other people told her that they had seen us together and she told them that said we were the two people she trusted the most and she didn't believe either of us would do that to her. Rather than telling her the truth we kept our mouths shut. Now it's really awkward when we are all three around each other because of the tension created by both her friend and I fooling around on her and the fact that even if we told her she probably wouldn't believe it now and if she did believe it it would hurt her worse now than if we had told her the truth from the beginning. |
