Hm, I think this song could be about a very desperate and lonly man who started with drugs to fill his lonliness. Look at this man he has nothing to belive in "no religion", he seems to be all alone and betrays himself by saying "dont need no friends", his life is without a meaning and without any ambiton "I've lived a thousand years, they never bothered me" and it seems to be so boring that it feels like "1000 years" and finaly he found only disappointment where he should have found "gold" "I found the plastic at the golden rainbow's end" --- So IMO this lyrics are about the reasons why people start with drugs and slip into addiction! |

I liked Maiden a lot but heared them too often. Although i dont like CoF, this cover is much, much better than the original in my opinion. The best interpretation of the lyrics was the one about a Witch trial - it makes sense with the song´s title. |
