White Zombie – Spiderbaby (Yeah-Yeah-Yeah) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
i thought it said 'knew there was an egg when i saw the spider' which would have been funnier haha but the first line is nothing to be worried about when looking at the rest haha |
Pedro the Lion – To Protect the Family Name Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I really like the whole frame work of this song but I always feel very sad whilst and after hearing it, which I'm not sure if it good for me personally. its too depressing this song. Its so tender, a moment where this man is being honest about everything as it is and that's been put upon him. Its about pressures of having to be perfect and that everybody thinks he doesn't care but his first concern is 'the family name' the only people who will listen to him is a policemen rather than his family. The music is too sad but its very well constructed. I think you have to be sympathetic to enjoy music like this but you also have to have a part of you that enjoys sadness aswell. |
Atmosphere – Yesterday Lyrics | 14 years ago |
this is just perfect. so articulate and well paced, straight to the core, selfless. thank goodness there are people out their sharing their art with such honesty. I love the production as well. I love it when people/artists observe the simplest of things but wrap them up with alot of meaning, like 'That's why I try not to cry over spilled beer.' ahh! great song. |
The Magnetic Fields – Blue You Lyrics | 14 years ago |
tom waits impression. I still like it though lol everybody was singing the blues and it entranced him because everything was in sync. |
The Magnetic Fields – Bitter Tears Lyrics | 14 years ago |
this sounds like such a dig at morrissey. well i like the smiths so there. |
The Tiny – Just Like You Lyrics | 15 years ago |
so tender and raw i love it. The line 'just like a flower you need your drink and no one in your way' is so original! A flower is beautiful and gentle but has quite specific requirements, he, isn't dainty but like a flower he needs 'drink'- alcohol, and 'no one' in his way- a tempestuous character who needs space, she hasn't changed the truth but the combination are the same yet different. Despite his behviour, she knows him well enough that like a flower he is delicate. so brilliant. It's a complicated relationship, it could even be platonic love but either way it's deep. |
Fiona Apple – Sullen Girl Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Fiona is an empress with Metaphor, she is fantastic. The divide of the sea and land is powerful, above water she has to emerge from the security of sheltering from the chaos of the world. Even though it's tradgedy that keeps her in the obliivion where no light reaches, it's the only place where she feels safe and at ease. The shell once holding a pearl and then being empty is POWERFUL. I'm so impressed with Fiona! Yes, New fan here lol =))) |
Tim Buckley – Song To The Siren Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song is pure beauty, I can honestly listen to it many times , several times in a row. I like that the lyrics are quite universal, the melody and emotion is not hard to understand, wonderful imagery also. It's stripped pretty bare but still retains some mystery, very deep, very honest. |
Regina Spektor – Chemo Limo Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song has the structure of a novel, she's really good at mixing styles and sounds- so skilled! |
The Sugarcubes – Mama Lyrics | 15 years ago |
kind of strangesong to be sung by a female but it's kind of a strange song anyway. Especilly the t.m.i details about breasts in jumpers lol It's about needing someone reliable who has the strong capabilites of a mother and will give them unconditional love. It could be quite satirical, about how men are always looking for somebody like their mother. |
Atmosphere – Like The Rest of Us Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Love this song, the beat, thewords... it's just put so simply- not to say the words are basic- it's a pretty intricate song- but there's no unecessary OTT-ness because it's just meant to evoke a sigh. This song is about thinking about what life is, how you can fall into traps. I just love the word play. My fave line is the bit about the price tags and cloth. So perfect ! |
Tricky – Overcome Lyrics | 16 years ago |
she does say funk! |
Owen Pallett – The Arctic Circle Lyrics | 16 years ago |
haha yeah, it is totally catchy! |
Prince – Chelsea Rodgers Lyrics | 16 years ago |
'Still got butt like a letter C' haha, when i heard this I thought he said 'still got a butt like a LEATHER SEAT' lol! Chelsea Rodgers is a model with some mystery and power that could be a role model as well as look beautiful. |
Prince – Shockadelica Lyrics | 16 years ago |
whoops, i didn't realise this was already here! Such a fantastic song! It's about this woman that's got him completely drawn, like he's under a spell. It's so witchy/halloween-y.. He's fascinated by her but he doesn't understand why. I love the characteristics of this song. shockadelica! |
Prince – Raspberry Beret Lyrics | 16 years ago |
One of my favourite songs. I think this song is just about someone that just has a good vibe, someone quirky who comes into your life and you won't ever forget them. 'the kind you find in a secoondhand store' suggests that she's not ordinary. Prince is suprised she's suprised him sort of thing. It sounds so summery and cute! |
Björk – Enjoy Lyrics | 16 years ago |
LUST FOR LIFE! Life is electric and sometimes she wishes it was easier, and she didn't have to investigate but the entralling things are exciting. She gets pleasure from the sights and delves in. |
Björk – The Modern Things Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I love the elemental sound to it as well. Like all the cars and technologies are breaking out of the mountain. |
Björk – The Modern Things Lyrics | 16 years ago |
it's very eerie when you think of what happened to the dinosaurs and of global warming :-s But this is a lovely full of life song. |
Bishop Allen – Rain Lyrics | 16 years ago |
yeah it really is a tune! It's all about refreshing and waking up. When your depressed you don't really like the sun being around. This is about hope and coming out of depression, in a positive way. I love the 80's vibe on it =) |
M. Ward – One Life Away Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I love the way his delivery/melody has such a sense of romance. it's exactly the type of music a man from the 50's would have bringing over flowers to his sweetheart- which is what the man in this song is doing! He doesn't make it sound sad, because the man is full of hope and faith. Rather amazing song really. |
Deerhoof – Flower Lyrics | 16 years ago |
good to know that! I love this song, they definetly create this innocent/monster contrast through it. flower power! |
Devendra Banhart – A Sight to Behold Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think I understand this song better now. My interpretation is that amazing things are all around him, nature never isn't magical but he's heard about this thing called 'love'. something feels like it's missing. love could be much better, more magical then all the other things. |
Devendra Banhart – A Sight to Behold Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Regina Spektor – Bobbing for Apples Lyrics | 17 years ago |
i think this is about a crumbly bitter old musician |
Owen Pallett – The Arctic Circle Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Shields up! Shields up! Bar the door, and keep your dukes up! what a great way to desrcibe getting ready to defend yourself. |
Owen Pallett – The Arctic Circle Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Shields up! Shields up! Bar the door, and keep your dukes up! what a great way to desrcibe getting ready to defend yourself. |
Björk – Mouth's Cradle Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think she's talking about something that depends on someone, in a craing way. I think she could be talking about someone that wears braces (for teeth) =) but I'm not too sure. |
The Beatles – Strawberry Fields Forever Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I don't think just because he went to an orphanage called 'strawberry fields' he was especially talking about his times there.. In alot of beatles songs there are reference points to things. I mean, when you are writing a song you use the words which are at your disposal- strawberry fields just might have exhisted in his head. |
The Beatles – Strawberry Fields Forever Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I like this one... it's got really cool music, the melodies are quite strange (in a good way) it's quite hip-hoppy. I heard they were writing this song as a trip through an LSD trip... which must explain the lyrics, which i feel are all about needing an escape to somewhere you don't have to worry about anything, your surroundings. and a strawberry field is a rather peaceful and romantic place- I can just imagine living blissfully in a sunny field eating strawberries and not worrying about anything. Of course it might be a bit crazier if I had taken drugs... I think the 'hard to be someone' is also about the toubles of fame... |
M.I.A. – Pull Up The People Lyrics | 18 years ago |
yeah stenyc. I also think it's about relief through music and she seems to be talking about what effect war has had on her life. |
The Sea and Cake – Jacking The Ball Lyrics | 18 years ago |
it sounds a bit like remembering his youth. Time passing with the specialness of not having any realy worries. Also a bit like people forget the mind set of being young- it's not some amazingly blissfull time, probably only when someone looks back to it they feel that way. Sometimes I really do wonder if these indie bands listen to African music, soucous e.tc. Cause alot of the melodies and methods are /so/ african.. |
System of a Down – Lost In Hollywood Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i don't think that bits about hip hop sucking, more about people who aren't cool and are brainless sheep thinking they are by listening to it. |
Regina Spektor – I Want to Sing Lyrics | 18 years ago |
must have been kind to kittens and birds, in a previous life must have thought happy thoughts... so cute.. a person could only offer praise to this song. I wonder if she couldn't decide on a background to fit it or whether singing alone says something about the person in this song being true and seeing past the troubles, vunerable. |
Wyclef Jean – Gone Till November Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is a really well produced song... |
Tricky – Poems Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this is a really thoughful song. I love the progression of the slow beat to the next voice. it's really cool how there's 3 different people on it. |
Björk – My Spine Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i think it's about a little rush and literally shiver down the spine that she gets from these little treats, sounds a bit like she's going around her busniness but she can't help noticing all the strapping young men at the work factory or something lol. The xylophone (i think it is) is mischevious and playful. harmless fun, what she likes in a guy. it's cute. |
Tricky – Overcome Lyrics | 18 years ago |
when a relationship is intoxicating and strange because it's just arguing and sex. i don't know how i should know this lol. but the words are saying that things are better when there's trust and till then they should breathe. definetly. she doesn't say 'funk'. i thought that was a cool line. music and emotion in one thing. |
Melt Banana – Area 877 Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this song is an experiment of SOUND! so weird/crazy/cool I hate they way he says 'cohck' I think it's just showing the kind of stuff you're going to expect from melt banana, this is what we will do to you kind of thing. |
A Perfect Circle – The Package Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think it's just about someone who's just forgotten kindness and is just dark and out for suvival. They don't care what stands in the way of what they want. it happened because they wanted to be shrew or protect themselves so they built up armour but now nothing gets in. It can easily be about drugs but it could just as easily be something else. who knows what the hell is in that package. |
Corinne Bailey Rae – Like a Star Lyrics | 18 years ago |
mmm. I think it's true. when you find someone that really understands you or rather just doesn't judge you, those are the kind of people you can yell and scream at because underneath you know it's all gonna be fine again cause there's trust and friendship. this person is special to her and she doesn't get why things are so sweet yet they can argue all the time. |
Corinne Bailey Rae – Put Your Records On Lyrics | 18 years ago |
i hadn't finished yet, pah. (i also meant bit not beat heh) Is she saying that the boys are silly and have dumb hair? |
Corinne Bailey Rae – Put Your Records On Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I like this song, it's really nice. It's about reassurance and not to worry too much, don't worry you'll find your feet. where what you want, listen to what you want. Sapphire and faded jeans... I suppose it's personal but what does the beat about the hair do mean? I thought it was afro hair do lol and i've even seen it written as 'apple' hair do. |
Fiona Apple – Paper Bag Lyrics | 18 years ago |
He said it's all in your head and I said so's everything but he didn't get it ^ that is so cool =) I think of how we practically just live in our heads nearly all the time. |
Devendra Banhart – This Beard Is for Siobhan Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this song is shamelessly cheerful lol. i feel manipulated! |
Van Morrison – Brown Eyed Girl Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this song is cute. make's me feel a little bit sad really, maybe that's just the bittersweet vibe around the song. he's just remembering after such a long time this girl that he had so much care free fun with. sounds like a'summer lovin but with a bit of a sore. I don't think it's about taking it in the boot! just sex in the grass lol. |
Nellie McKay – Respectable Lyrics | 18 years ago |
this is a cool song. after watching the talented mr.ripley I feel this song goes quite well with that film, in a strange way. |
Sia – Sunday Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I think this song is about the use of sundays. alot of people say 'i hate sundays, there's nothing to do!' But there are alot of people that are actually in need of a sunday, it's a totally unique day really. clever idea. |
Regina Spektor – Ne Me Quitte Pas Lyrics | 18 years ago |
that's really clever Luxushexx! I don't think just because it's simple, it's not complex though. I think the chorus is also about how new york and paris, expecially in snow are meant to be so romantic. and all about melting lol. |
Regina Spektor – Us Lyrics | 18 years ago |
she's an amazing poet... my favourite bit is the noses rusting! which kind of reminds me of that saying 'cut off your nose to spite your face' it's about striving for a dream and how we as people in our naughty world want truth? |
