I'm sure the song's not about Elvis. Hendrix is a good guess, but his name wasn't Johnny and Bonham didn't play guitar. I've always heard the song was about Johnny Rotten of the Sex Pistols, but he didn't commit suicide. This song was written in 74-75 and the untimley deaths of Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Janis Joplin were still fresh on the mind of Paul Rodgers and Johnny is a fictional character about all of these legends. |
