Just out of curiosity, has anyone here ever read Leviticus and Deuteronomy? I haven't, but I'm pretty sure that the song is NOT sexual. I think it is an expression of how Bush felt about the war. It's about punishing the wicked and being completely unsupported in doing so. "Nobody else is going to help me (all alone), and a lot of people think I'm wrong (it's my mistake), so I'll just toughen up (nobody else caught the Popeye reference? Spinach!! Lots of it!!!) and do it myself (again--all alone). If it turns out I was wrong, so be it--at least I took a stand for what I believe in (it's my mistake, I'll make it)." Side Note-- I think Bush is a total idiot who deserves to be not only impeached, but imprisoned (and--dare I say?--INJECTED!) for what he has done to the American men and women who went to Iraq to die, but you have to admit that it took alot of testicular fortitude for him to do it in the first place. And on top of that he lets gas prices skyrocket? Dude's got the biggest brass pair in history, if you ask me. Too bad he's too dumb to use this trait in a way that would help his fellow man instead of just his fellow oil tycoon. |

I think this song is about drugs losing their ability to make it all better. I think the line is "that dank sure stank lit", not "dang sure". Also, I think it's "dope or rhymin' more worth it" not "all worth it". Finally, I think it's "Where did it go--All you wanted to be?" not "why you want it to be?". So that being said, here's my opinion: A kid (not the person rapping in this song--It's a third person commentary) gets into a hip-hop lifestyle because (s)he enjoys writing rhymes. But when (s)he makes it, (s)he gets wrapped up in drugs, too. Pot (dank), coke (hit through a straw), and crack rocks (Where you found them at? Got 'em around town) are all referred to in this song. The kid likes the drugs at first (more worth it than the hope diamond), maybe even starts dealing. However, the kid's art suffers (Your gold hits sound dumb) and the kid follows many other users down the path of least ambition, but eventually realizes (s)he has made a huge mistake and lost his/her way (Something has started today. Where did it go--All you wanted to be?). But by this time, it's too late ("November has come" --November being towards the end of the year). And the drugs lead to the kids early death (It's gone away). The part about the nun makes me think of the mother of the thug that shot the kid, defending her absolute angel of a child. So yeah... Drugs are bad, m'kay? ;-D |

Am I the only person left on Earth who knows grammar, punctuation, and spelling? "Typo" doesn't even begin to describe how the English language is being butchered online these days... Maybe that's what "Last Living Souls" is about.... Anyway, I agree that this song is about a man who is dying. I don't believe that he's in Iraq, but he did serve there. The song takes place in the future. He doesn't feel that God wants him anymore. "Summer don't know me" implies to me that he feels out of place during the summer (a time of hot weather and LIFE) because he took innocent lives in Iraq (a time of hot weather and DEATH). The innocent blood he took makes him feel guilty and sinful to the point that he can't attone for it. "Lost my mind" is the only explanation that he can offer for his actions, and he believes that god won't think it's a good excuse. Hence the repetition of "Maybe in time You'll want to be mine." He's trying desperately to convince himself that there is still hope for him. |

bullit6783: Do you agree that this song is about an American soldier in Iraq? If so, why would he be carrying an AK-47? It's a gun invented by a Russian during WWII that has indeed been the "assault rifle" of choice in every war since it was created, but it's almost always carried by America's ENEMIES, not America's soldiers. To my knowledge, American soldiers are still using M16's, just as they have since the M16 was invented (also during WWII, I believe). I haven't a clue why, as the AK is clearly a better choice than the M16--much more reliable; it virtually never jams, and hardly needs any maintenance at all. Besides that, they shoot a larger bullet. More stopping power in the 7.62x39mm cartridge of an AK than the .223 caliber cartridge of an M16. But aside from that detail, y'all are spot on--the song is an extended way of saying "GEORGE W. BUSH IS THE MF DEVIL!" |

You are all right and you are all wrong... A song means something different to each person. There is no "right" meaning to any song... It's all in how the listener perceives it. Therefore, you're all right according to yourselves. But, as I see it, you're all wrong (imho), because I disagree with all of you. To me this song is about the human need for something to fear. We're all afraid of kids with guns (yes, I'm generalizing), because they don't always understand that death is permanent. "They're taking over" means that our fears get the best of us. We become "monsters" and "fire" because our fear pushes us to the point that we shut ourselves off from others and end up hurting anyone who comes near us. We need to calm down ("easy does it") and be honest with ourselves ("push it real" -- no, I don't hear "is she real", anonymousL) to realize that our fears are manufactured. The things we're terrified of aren't really coming to get us. We just think they are because we NEED something to fear ("It's all desire"). Without something to fear, nothing is sacred and life without something sacred isn't worth living. That's the truth according to me, now go find the truth according to you. By the way, why is u1000 calling ANYONE retarded when (s)he's the one talking about "autorithy"? It's "AUTHORITY"! FLAME ON!!!!!! ;-D |
