The Mountain Goats – If You See Light Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I think it's about the Allegory of the Cave. |
Grizzly Bear – Two Weeks Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think it's probably about a relationship where one person has to reassure their partner constantly. "just like yesterday, I told you I would stay" There's probably more to it though. |

and sometimes they also remind me of David & The Citizens |

On thesixtyone.com they say it's about a mandolin. I think they may be just joking around though. |

They sort of remind me a bit of Oh No! Oh My! |
Panic! at the Disco – Camisado (Relax, Relapse) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
The lyrics seem to be about Ryan Ross' father who died last year and was an alcoholic, hence the lines "Sit back, relax. Sit Back, relapse again." It makes sense that this song is about his experience as his father was dying in the hospital. It also seems that he was an abusive father from the lines "The bruises and contusions will remind me what you did when you wake" and "Can't take the kid from the fight take the fight from the kid".It doesn't seem like a wholly upsetting even for him from the line "This is not an accident, this is a therapeutic chain of events." and the lines "It's not so pleasant. And it's not so conventional It sure as hell ain't normal But we deal, we deal" seem to tell of his father's hypocritical want for conventionality in his life and normalcy in Ryan's life (Ryan Ross had said that his father disapproved of his life decisions), yet even at the end of his own, he was not able to provide this. |
The Decemberists – From My Own True Love (Lost at Sea) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Has anyone heard the demo of this?? There's a whole other verse that goes Hands hang low creasing the fabric of my wedding dress Does he lie below smacking the fingers of a seaweed tress (or at least that's what I heard from the song) This pretty much answers the question of whether it is an 80 year old man or woman. I wonder why this verse was cut out. I think it's amazing, especially since there is only one other verse in there. |

I posted what I heard in the song, not what the actual booklet said because it seemed to add and leave out a lot of things. |
Straylight Run – The Tension and the Terror Lyrics | 17 years ago |
It seems a lot of this stuff is a large stretch when the lyrics seem fairly obvious. No girls are even mentioned in this song. It seems like it is about a boy who likes another boy, but isn't so comfortable with this as shown by feeling that he is going "to hell" and why in the first place he tries not to kiss the other person. The other lyric that seems to add up to this is "it comes down to me and you and whether we're supposed to or not, we still will we're so much better off than them". This lyric felt very remenicent of the song Hand In Glove by The Smiths where Morrissey sings we can go wherever we please and everything depends upon how near you stand to me...we have something they'll never have". This song can be about anything, but I always saw it as a gay relationship where the outside doesn't matter and they feel better off because of it. I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks this. It just seems so obvious to me. I can see the reasoning behind what everyone else is saying, but all of them seem like a bit of a stretch, especially since NO GIRLS ARE MENTIONED. Anyway, I just thought I should say so since this is one of my favourite songs by Straylight Run, and both my friend and I and a lot of her friends have only seen the meaning of this song this way. |
