Pink Floyd – Not Now John Lyrics 18 years ago
The line saying "who gives what its about as long as the kids go" this is the same as what MTV is doing right now. its all business, i actually dont know why waters would put this line in this song, maybe hes talkin about pink floyd, or other bands; which confuses me as its a war song, on a war album. And waters did "care what its about"

The last verse, whith all the countries, is a reference to war, or a cold war. always competing with other countries, trying to prove that your country is the most powerful, or "feel tough" and its all to impress margaret thatcher- the pro-war prime minister of britain.

this is a very patchy song, as it has the main parts, the continuation of "one of the few", the war parts, maggie, and all the other stuff. it may all tie together like pink floyds other albums (animals, the wall, and even waters' pros and cons) but, right now i dont know the connection

Radiohead – Man of War Lyrics 18 years ago
I got a great version that also says "what a nasty surprise" in the lyrics. this song is great and u can relate it directly to war or just life in general. -the thing is that there both hopeless. The 1st verse pretty much tells u to try all u want, but in the end u are wasting ur time, which would make u more alone- as in ur in a worse place after uve tried to gain happiness, then u were b4 u even tried at all, obviously due to dissapointment for something that thom might thing is impossible to achieve.

what a nasty surprise is the realization of the hopelessness
