Pink Floyd – Pigs (Three Different Ones) Lyrics 1 year ago
@bill110798 Well, it's only taken me 4 years to answer, and you've probably already found your answer, but here I am! In answer to your question, Maggie was leader of the Conservative Party from 1975, hence she was waiting to "get on the bus" when Animals was written.

Duran Duran – Save A Prayer Lyrics 17 years ago
This is my fave Duran Duran song too. 'Maria' says "...it is usually skipped over..." By WHOM?!? This is one of THE most emblematic tracks of DD ever.
P.S. I'd never thought to find out exactly what the lryics are, until today! :D

Pink Floyd – Welcome to the Machine Lyrics 18 years ago
OF COURSE it's about the music business, and how it chews you up and spits you out, and regardless of what personal ambitions you have, the industry tells you what to dream, and you are merely another wheel in the great machine. Far too evident nowadays with all the crap people are churning out, although in my opinion it never affected Pink Floyd, 'cos they've always done what they want and NEVER followed fashions. They are the most singularly unique band in history. (pardon the semantic pleonasm)

Pink Floyd – Two Suns in the Sunset Lyrics 18 years ago
I agree with Azzathtoth about that kind of desperately hopeless feeling that all is coming to and end, but you can't do jack about it. Possibly the finest ending to an album i've ever heard.Don't know about the end of Floyd thing, though. I think it's just rounding of the anti-war theme by saying that we're going to fuck it all up for ourselves and our children, and "The Gunner's Dream" has been totally blown away. Maybe

Pink Floyd – The Dogs of War Lyrics 18 years ago
The 1st time I heard this song was on a Walkman, at night walking down the street when I was 13 years old. SHIT myself when I heard that growling in my left ear. Excellent sax solo, even if the song is a bit crap. Nevermind, gotta luvvem.

Billy Idol – Eyes Without A Face Lyrics 19 years ago
I think it means she's all eyes (looks and appearances), but really just a faceless liar and cheat.
Why are there so many Idol songs with no comments? The bloke's a f***in' hero! We must buy Devil's Playground and support the King of snarlin' adrenaline-rock!

Billy Idol – Rebel Yell Lyrics 19 years ago
Best Idol song ever, seconded by Shock to the System. This bit "I'd sell my soul for you babe
For money to burn with you
I'd give you all, and have none, babe
Just, just, justa, justa to have you here by me" sounds like a cry of desperate, unconditional love for someone who probably doesn´t reciprocate it. Spine-tinglin' adrenaline rushin' f***in' awesome COME ON!!!

Pink Floyd – The Post War Dream Lyrics 19 years ago
Here goes: So if Jesus was crucified to save the human race, and Daddy died in WWII, why are we going through another war?
This album is mostly made up of ideas "cut out" from the 'final cut' of The Wall, redirected to comment on the Falklands conflict rather than WWII, but still smiting war in general with more emphasis than in The Wall.

Pink Floyd – Pigs on the Wing (Part 1) Lyrics 19 years ago
I reckon it's saying that if there were no brotherly love in this world, we would just dawdle through life, letting the 'pigs' i.e politicians, censors, etc control us, only occasionally stopping to ask ourselves what the fux going on and whose fault it is, and now and again make sure we're not being blind-spotted by a low-flying Prime Minister or something.

Love the audible 'double meaning' of "a soul in tension" that sounds like " a sole intention"

Pink Floyd – Pigs (Three Different Ones) Lyrics 19 years ago
So here's the definitive explanation of these lyrics: In 1977 the British Prime Minister was a rather corpulent, somewhat unattractive bloke called James Callaghan (left-wing) - hence "Big man pig man" - big 'cos he was big, and also PM, and pig 'cos... well... And at the time there was some sort of hoo-haa about the mining industry which I was too young to remember, hence "...head down in the pig-pen singin keep on diggin" "pig stain on your fat chin probably refers to having 'egg on his face'.
The "bus stop rat bag" was of course Maggie Thatcher (The Iron Lady) waiting to get on the bus in the general elections of 1979 - a truly "FUOH" who "radiated cold shafts of broken glass" due to her icey-cold nature.
"hey you Whitehouse" was indeed a direct mention of Mary Whitehouse, an advocate for censorship and utter anihilation of anything that was 'just not cricket'- sex, drugs, rock 'n' roll and pretty much anything else to do with modern society.

"Ha ha charade you are" is a play-on-words of an oh so common lyrical interjection "ha ha shawa-doowa" or however you spell it, with the double meaning of "you are a charade" i.e. false.
Hope this clears up a few points.
