| Soul Coughing – Maybe I'll Come Down Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I think this is yet again another Heroin song. "I got to drag my ass to now, how did I come to stop here? " Here he is high and lamenting that he has to do stuff. Wondering how he has wasted so much time. "Maybe I'll come down " Needs to come down to get things done. "And oh I dreamed a great parade, shooting all the guns in Brooklyn " Part of being high. "The man who had a spare held out two and then you and then you took one " How he came to be high. A spare bag of Heroin. http://stream.griswell.com |

| Soul Coughing – How Many Cans? Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I think he is talking about trying to forget a failed relationship: "How many cans must I stack up To wash you out of my mind, Out of my consciousness?" Maybe she cheated on him? "She says "Yeah, But he's not in right now". You pause. You like her answer." |

| Soul Coughing – Bus To Beelzebub Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I think this is about being clean then getting high again. This line is about getting back into the habit: " Get on to the bus That's gonna take you back to Beelzebub" Then about being stoned: "Your words burn the air Like the names of candy bars Your mouth is cold and red All in rings around your Laugh laughing laughs" ... http://stream.griswell.com |

| Soul Coughing – Blue Eyed Devil Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I think he is stoned in a motel room when a blue eyed salesmans comes by and distrubes him. "Moving door to door to door. Stoned motel room. Nice cool on the bathroom floor." "Spoon to the lighter to the lighter to the gun Devil lapsed out in a pool of sun" |

| Soul Coughing – 4 Out Of 5 Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I agree with the sex theme but I think this line: " Her knees thrust in one direction like a symbol of math, a symbol meaning Greater Than." Would see them in more if a rear entry on your side positon than a missionary style. Here knees thrust in on e direction ... not 2. And if they were on their sides with him behind it would be a greater than sign. http://stream.griswell.com |

| Soul Coughing – 16 Horses Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I think this is again about Heroin (also called the Horse). I think this is about him calling a lady friend to bring some over, It starts with a phone call: "14,000 times a second The speaker moves Magnetism pushes The impulse through But I can't keep that speed I can't generate that frequency What the sound pressure level means" This is describing the physics of a phone, "14,000 times a second" is 14KHz which the is frequency of the audio on telephones. "The speaker moves, Magnetism pushes, The impulse through" The phone speaker is a magnet that relays pluses into sound "I can't generate that frequency What the sound pressure level means" Then into her coming with the Heroin, "She came pushing sixteen horses ". Pushing is slang for Drug dealing and Horse is slang Heroin. This next part is about her arriving and him thinking his girl friend is watching him do that which he knows he should not do: "I saw her and thought of her and thought of her And I thought I heard a doorbell tone And I thought I saw, thought I saw and thought I saw You watching from the lawn She went over bridges like the river was a dream, dream Over bridges like the river was a dream, dream " http://stream.griswell.com |

| Soul Coughing – $300 Lyrics | 20 years ago |
Definitely about drugs (herion): "Lifting me up like a garage door I need to feel it when the drug starts coming on " And how he knows god must not be happy with his addiction: "I know you Lord are a jealous lord I know the tablet is your competition" But he still continues in the hope god will forgive: "And I need for you to be reasonable " I think this line is about buying the drugs: "How much? She said for three hundred dollars I'll do it " But I think is should be written like this: "How much? She said for three hundred dollars. I'll do it " Not sure what the last bits about rain and skin mean. Must the H talking. http://stream.griswell.com |

| Soul Coughing – White Girl Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I am thinking that he passed an attractive 'White Girl" at "Market and Van Ness" then he gets distracted "Hear the man singing" and she is gone "Look away and she's eastbound, out of sight.". Then he imagine that she was an alien: "Dropped here, By the hand of the Astronaut, Builder of the pyramids, The man from outer space. Innocent farmgirl, Raised by the aliens," Strange. http://stream.griswell.com |

I don't what yiggie is talking about but this is song it for sure about: 1) Getting herion: "She had a spare bag ... She proposed a trade, it was generous " 2) Getting high: "She's gone to Houston, feel like I'm floating in a warm sea " 3) And knowing he should not do this but not caring: "And if she finds out when she comes back, I know that she wil leave me " followed by "I'll take the blame upon my shoulder, I just love to feel like this " http://stream.griswell.com |
