i like the sublime version better. i like the sound plus it has so much more meaning when sung by bradley. i believe the song is about brad having trouble writing songs, so he took heroin to help him write (in a nutshell). |

i think this is one of the best crafted songs ever. the way he sings it, the great use of vocabulary. its just incredible. The song is about dreams. Most people (myself included) just wake up in the morning and brush them off. "man what a fucked up dream", stuff like that. This song though brings up the belief that dreams will tell us things about ourself that we may not even know. Its suggesting that great subconscious relief and inner peace could be achievede by confronting our dreams and most inner thoughts. again, very good song, i wish i could write half as good as this. |

The words of Eddie Vedder"
"I think technology went wrong somewhere. It just went into the wrong direction. Instead of helping us and freeing us, it seems to enslave us. That's what I talk about in "Grievance," about the dangers and what a lot of people don't see or don't want to see. There's the line. For every tool they lend us a loss of independence and it's true. Everything happens so fast. The technology is supposed to make everything simple, easy. It tries to make us believe that it's some sort of freedom we have. Of course, it's easy and comfortable if you can do all your shopping via the internet, if you don't need to leave the house to do anything. But, on the other hand, what is going to happen? You lose touch with people. You don't meet new people except on the internet and whatever you do can be traced. They know everything about you; they know what you buy; they know which papers you read, how long you stay on a page and they look at your statistics and they're going to offer you the products they think you might buy – most of them you don't really need anyway. What is going to happen to individuality? " |

But then he gets a new realization and decides to break it off, stop takin the bullshit. it doesnt work though, in the end he thinks with the head in his pants, not the one on his shoulders. |

im getting really tired of hearing the same defence from britney spears fans: "like oh my god, u guys are, like, totally just jealous of britney, and her, like, major talent, voice, and like, yea!" come on. thats the most shallow arguement I've ever heard. If I said i hated chef boyardee would you say I'm just jealous of his multi million dollar company? Please, stuff some gum in your mouths and shut up |

to me it totally sounds like he gets into a car wreck and dies, just read these lines carefully:
green to red
machinehead
and i walk from my machine
i walk from my machine
deaf dumb dirty
starting to deserve this
leaning on my conscious wall
blood is like wine
"green to red", meaning like a sudden stop or crash
"i walk from my machine/ deaf dumb dirty" i can just picture him crawling from the window of an upturned car
"leaning on my conscious wall" when it caves he enters unconciousness, death |
