This song is OK, but the version on I don't really like. The live version of this song is MUCH better :) |

Queen's most poweful song! No question. It's made even more powerful in that the song relates to Freddie more than anything, and that it's basically him speaking his mind, which in itself is very powerful. Quite simply, this song is about people who were/are suffering like Freddie Mercury, and that there is an optimism behind the dark evils of those problems. |

Didn't think this type of song would be on "Jazz" of all albums. Jus so fast, heavy-esque, and damn kewl :)
Probably 'bout how we live at a rushed, accelerated pace, but in the end, death will catch up to us. |

I'm proud to say that this it THE song that made me consider Music as my ideal career. Just wanted to let that out...
I honestly don't know what this song is or should really be about, and I don't care. It would be doing justice to Queen to interpret some songs (i.e. this song) their way, and so far, they have no idea what this song is about. Only Freddie did (and probably still does). It's just one of those "ultimate songs": a song that sounds utterly beautiful, and that doesn't need a meaning, statement, or message (political, social, personal, or otherwise). Once I start up a band, I hope to cover this song one day :)
RIP Freddie Mercury |

Can't believe how many/few people have commented on this song. Nice, heavy-esque song.
I think it's commenting on society, and would probably do anything just to get away from it all or change it. |

John Deacon's an amazing songwriter. I personally couldn't believe he could write such prolific music until I heard this. Freddie's vocal really drives the song along because the raw emotion he shows sticks with the song. May-b Sammy was a real person they knew, though I doubt it... |

I think Brian May wrote this based on who Freddie was. Don't blame me if u think differently, but most of the lyrics seem to describe a basic outline of Freddie: Freddie was a kind, giving person despite all of his onstage arrogance, and seemed to be misnunderstood as a human being because of it. His true self was being smothered by the act that he conveys to the audience.
Then again, I'm probably wrong. RIP Freddie. |

this song is so damn awesome! one of my faves. the lyrics are part of the reason. quite tragic, the story in these lyrics. a man who sees a beautiful woman he can never get. this song stands the tests of time (well, i think so :) ) |
