I agree with gatsby really... Marilyn Manson didn't invent the wheel. He has taken influences and used them himself. How he can claim in the song to be "the black" is silly because that whole idea has been used before. Having said that, I hate MCR so fair play to him for writing the "fuck you" bit! A sentiment echoed by us all! |

The screaming in the chorus says "What is it worth" instead of what's written above. I think its a satirical view of people's view of the world. "the sky is falling, I dont care. I just want to feel good". This is basically saying that the world is falling apart but we don't care. We just want to feel good. I don't think it's such a complicated song as people are saying. I just think its saying that alot of people dont care about anything but themselves as they just want to feel good.... |

This is Chris Martin being paranioid and it has a double meaning. I think its written to fans and Gwyneth Paltrow worrying about the fans not wanting Chris in their life and Gwyneth not wanting Chris by her side. If you listen to all of the lyrics, suddenly they all fit in to this idea. "What if I got it wrong And no poem or song Could put right what I got wrong" What if Chris made a mistake with Gwyneth and no poem of song could make it right again... What if Chris made a mistake with the fans and again, no other song or poem could put it back to how it was.... I might be wrong but it seems to make sense to me. Also, the chorus is: oooo, thats right lets take a breath, try and pull it aside oooo, thats right how can you know it if you dont even try? |

This song makes me think of when you like someone but you are unable, for whatever reason, to do anything about it. It's that helpless feeling when you want to tell someone how much you like them but they aren't single, live to far away ("when you love someone but it goes to waste") or are too good friends to risk it ("when you lose something that you can't replace").... This song seems, to me, to be saying that you should just go for it ("if you never try, you'll never know"). Then the chorus that says "lights will guide you home, and ignite you're bones" seems to say that it'll all be ok in the end and that you will do what is right.... I might be totally wrong but that's what it means to me. Also, on another note, this is a great song and the people who have only heard it from the OC have missed half of the song as it is 4:54 long and the OC only plays 2:35 of it. There's a big build up at the end and a full band part instead of just the organ and singing that you hear in the OC..... |
