| Dillinger Four – Shotgun Confessional Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
About him trying to get through to someone who won't listen, poss. of a "narrow minded faction". "I GOTTA KNOW, IF I MAY BE SO BOLD ARE THERE THINGS YOU DON'T ALREADY KNOW? AND I CAN'T STAND IT WHEN YOU LOOK AT ME THAT WAY IT'S LIKE YOU DON'T WANT TO HEAR A WORD I SAY." as in they wont listen, they think they know everything "I’M HOPING THAT YOU’LL COME AROUND" |

| Rage Against the Machine – In My Eyes (Minor Threat cover) Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| The first verse contains and then destroys alot of the pro-smoking arguments. Nice one! | |
| Dead Kennedys – I Fought The Law Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
"Gonna write my book and make a million" - Did Dan White publish his memoirs? or is it a reference to some other murderer? |
|
| Dead Kennedys – When Ya Get Drafted Lyrics | 20 years ago |

Yeah this song makes loads of comments about corporations starting wars: "There's easy money, easy jobs Especially when you build the bombs That blow big cities off the map Just guess who profits when we build 'em back up?" "We make profits when we blow off their heads" "Yeah, what Big Business wants Big Business gets - It wants a war" |

Well, no, the whole song isn't, just that fourth verse and the line "Big Bro' on white horse is near". Big Brother was the unseen dictator of the state in the novel 1984. In the fourth verse Jello is putting Brown's policemen in the context of the novel, where the 'thought police' knock on your door in the middle of the night if you are guilty of 'thought crime' or disloyalty to the fascist totalitarian state. The line 'its only a shower' is indeed a reference to the Nazi concentration camps, where Jews were forced into huge shower chambers and sprayed with Zyklon B, a poisonous gas. |

| Anti-Flag – Police Story Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| The song explains everything about Johnny Gammage: a black man from Brentwood, PA, who was murdered by cops, and all the cops involved "walked off free" | |
| The Clash – Complete Control Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| after the second verse, does Joe say "You're my guitar hero!"? If so why isnt it in the lyrics? | |
| Rage Against the Machine – Sleep Now In The Fire Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
On the subject of Rage being 'greedy', they donated all the profits from their Evil Empire tour with U2 to causes like the Mumia Abu-Jama benefit. Zack does loads of good, like setting up community centres, lectures etc. What you've gotta think, atthedrive-in, is that you probably wouldn't be aware of the intricasies of the Zapatista movement without Rage, or the Shining Path in Peru, or any of the other injustices around the world. This is especially true of those who dont live in the states, like myself. I wasnt aware about those FBI counter intelligence documents untill I heard Wake Up. It would have unlikely that i'd have even heard Rage's messages if they hadn't signed on Epic. Anyway, i rekon that if your as gifted as Rage are, you deserve to be rewarded. |

| Rancid – Lady Liberty Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Are those lyrics from the albumn sleeve? 'Cause I always assumed that the lyric was "the upstarts who shouted sandinistas", which would refer to the Clash, and their rebellious punk attitude. | |
| Rage Against the Machine – Take The Power Back Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| "FUCK THE NORE, FIGHT THE WAR!", indeed | |
| Rage Against the Machine – People Of The Sun Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Talking of the Mexico City DVD, when Zack says "Marcos is..." and then lists the oppressed peoples, he is talking about a man called Subcomandante Marcos. I don't know much about him other than he wrote some essays, but he seems to have had a great influence on Zack. | |
| Rage Against the Machine – Bombtrack Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| What actually is the meaning of Hardline? This may be ridiculous but I really don't understand what it means within the context of the song, apart from Goverments taking a 'hard line' on the people. | |
| Rage Against the Machine – Snakecharmer Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| I agree with pr0parations and Op Ivy Skanker , that its about being betrayed, and the way that a snake charmer controls a snake. | |
| Rage Against the Machine – Down Rodeo Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| This is also Zack saying that instead of people in the ghetto fighting among themselves, they should direct their anger against the rich, like those who live on Rodeo drive - "rollin' down rodeo with a shotgun". | |
| Rage Against the Machine – Wind Below Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| the NAFTA is talked about on the Mexico City dvd, it was some kind of treaty that the US trapped the mexican government with. "Wind below" is a quote from someone describing the Zapatista movement in Mexico, about how they're gonna rise up and take over. | |
| Rage Against the Machine – Roll Right Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| The line "send 'em to the seventh level", which isn't shown on the lyrics above, is a reference to Dante's nine levels of hell. The seventh is where zealous war mongers are sent. This makes it seem as if this song is about aggresiveness of the US and their police. | |
