U2 – Unknown Caller Lyrics

Maybe it's me but put the meaning aside and just listen musically. I swear this song could be put on War or Unforgettable Fire. It has that 80's U2 sound to it. |

This is clearly about Yoko. John and Yoko were temporarilly seperated during the recording of Walls and Bridges. He is missing her in this song. |

System of a Down – Chop Suey! Lyrics

I actually think it is about people who pose as christians as a way to hide their own insecurities with in themselves. While the "Why don't you trust in my self righteous suicide" is Jesus really asking "why do you use my name in this way? Don't you understand what I am really about?"
This is just my thought on it. |

Tori Amos – Silent All These Years Lyrics

Tori Amos was raped. I think the whole Little Earthquakes album, for the most part, is her letting out that emotions. A lot of times, when someone is raped, they keep it inside out of shame. I think she is ready to come out of hiding in this song. |

Rush – Resist Lyrics

I gave this song more thought and I think it is about being human. We are subject to things like desires and temptations and our feelings. We are controlled by our egos which make us feel that these things are important. |

Rush – Test for Echo Lyrics

I think it is something like what you said. I definetly see a connection with TV news and sensationalism possibly bringing about more crime as it desensitizes society to more crime hence "test for echo." |

Counting Crows – A Long December Lyrics
|
The singer said that he wrote this song at a time when one his friends got hit by a car. At the time, he was spending his time between the recording studio and visiting her in the hospital. He later drove to his friends house, who happened to live in a place called Hillside Manor, and they talked for a while. He came home and wrote this song about the long month and how he feels next year would be better. |

Rush – Resist Lyrics

I like the line "you can surrender without a prayer but never really pray, pray without surrender." Similiar to The Pass. You can give up or you can fight on. In this case, even turning your situation over to a higher power. |

Rush – The Pass Lyrics

"All of us get lost in the darkness, dreamers tend to look at the stars, all of us do time in the gutter, dreamers tend to look at the cars."
Such powerful lyrics. I agree, it is about taking two approaches to are own personal struggles. Either looking towards the light or just dwelling where you are. |

R.E.M. – Man On The Moon Lyrics

I originally thought, because of the film, that it was about Andy Kaufman. However, someone told me that it is actually about not believing everything you are told making reference to the moon landing in 1969 being a hoax. "If you believed they put a man on the moon, man on the moon.
If you believe there's nothing up their sleeve, then nothing is cool." The references to Andy Kaufman are just about how he would play trick the world. |
