I agree that this is probably the best song that Gary Lightbody has ever written. I can take or leave Snow Patrol but i just cannot get enough of the two reindeer section albums. shame that now snow patrol have gone big that there probably won't be another one. |

Reminds me of an ex too.
The line 'I walk around my house and think of you with nothing on'. It makes me laugh as i think to myself, is he actually walking around thinking with nothing on himself, or is he thinking about her and she has nothing on? Its the latter no doubt. But it could be the other way. Both plausible, both funny , and both of which i do. |

What?! Heroes "ain't that good of a song originally"??
A few points to make:
1) That sentence doesn't even make sense!
2) Heroes by David Bowie is one of the best songs ever. Ok, maybe you don't like it but the general consensus is that its a 'classic'. Its up there with Imagine, Sittin on the Dock of the Bay, Satisfaction, etc. Which must be kept in mind for point 3.
3) This is a terrible version of the song. And I am massive fan of Oasis. Its for this reason that i can see they should never have gone near it. Its too big a song. Even Liam was sensible enough to disown it.
4) I bet you probably think that Ocean Colour Scene are better than the Beatles. |

I think the lyric is 'I've been treated like a dog', not 'Up in a tree like a dog'. Thats just weird. When was the last time you saw a dog in a tree.

For all those trivia people. The song title is a very famous quote from the 60's. Basically, it comes from a hotel worker who walked into the hotel room of George Best one morning to find him stretched out on a bed with a couple of blonds. George had done the old trick of making love to the ladies on a bed covered in money. He was a mess, the ladies were a mess, there was booze all over the room, generally everybody looked like they had had the time of their lives. So the hotel porter walks in and says to George "Where did it all go wrong". That is where Noel took the title from. Its all about living the high life, burning out and realising the emptiness of the rock n roll experience. This makes perfect sense as Noel wrote SOTSOG whilst recovering from Cocaine addiction.
Note to Americans: George Best was a very famous footballer (woops, i mean soccer player) from the 60's. Arguably, the most talented player ever. He basically had the world at his feet but decided to become an alcoholic instead. The archetypal 'flawed genius'. |

Another cracking song that nobody has commented on. Again i think this is really underated. The tune is cracking. As with all Oasis songs the lyrics are pretty vague, probably just a general feeling at having a new gf and being happy. |

Can't believe nobody has commented on this song! Its not a classic but i think its really underated. And it has a really simple but kickin lead guitar line that comes in at about 3.30mins. Its one of those stadium sized, foot on the amp lines. I tell you, if Oasis wrote a song as good as this on their new album i would be more than happy. The reality is - they won't. Cos they are old and can't manage it any more. Boo. |

One of life's mysterys, especially when all women seem to do is whine about a lack of guys to treat them right. Etc, etc. Good song. |

Easy. Someone builds up a barrier around them and prevents people getting close - friends, lovers, whatever. Reflect on it and get over it, starting letting people in or you are gonna lose out. Simple lyrics but quite powerful. The guitar on this song is awesome. People really should listen to this band!! |

Hearing what you are saying on your mate saying they are full of anger. BUT, thats because they play the blues! What do they expect? This song is ace. I listened to it constantly after breaking up with my girlfriend cos it represented all the anger i had built up about the situation - how can someone so close change all of a sudden and totally mess with your head having given you such good times in the past. It feels as though they have been so ruthless and showing no emotion over it - or at least thats how it feels when you are on the receiving end. I love the line 'where'd you learn to shoot your gun so straight?'. That is the perfect way of summing up how a loved one changes when they dump you and you wonder how they can be so heartless. Its obviously a metophorical stance, they don't literally shoot you, but its about the damage that they have inflicted upon you. |
