one of the best songs on the album (although i'd actually say there are only 4 really good song on the album). when i heard this i thought 'wow this album is gonna kick ass' then i heard the rest of the album...in short, too many slow empty songs. this sound is great, this is what the whole album should be. this and no more sorrow are a promise of what they could be. the slow songs disappointed me, although to be fair i havent really listened to them yet. |

when i heard the hip hop and rap influence on the album was diminished, i was excited. i hate rap adn hip[ hop but could bare it in LP because they are gods. then i heard this song. within seconds i loved it. maybe its because it hails back to their old stuff that was my saviour. also because its not a slow song. who agrees there are too many god damned slow songs on this album!!!! they need to rock out more!!!! |

anyone else pick up where the opening tune is from? it's from a Lucio Fulci film - ZOMBI, aka ZOMBIE 2, aka ZOMBIE FLESH EATERS. guess one of the boys is into classic italian gore films. it jumped right at me. lucios films tend to have a very distinct sound. is there a horror theme in this album. cause i swear the opening of what i've done is from a slasher film, like halloween or something...can't pick it up |

glad to see im not the only one who was somewhat dissapointed by this song. i, and others, or not flaming this song or the band, nor saying it's a bad song. but it doesn't reach their usual standard. i'm actually missing the rap/hip hop influence in that it can bring a heavier beat (and i detest hip hop *shudders*) LP are a good band, one of the best, but i'm hoping for some heavier adn more interesting songs from the album. what i've learnt from their previous albums is that their music not only gets ur attention - IT DEMANDS IT. the rhythms kidnap you and chester screams in your face. this song was very mellowed out. |

i'm going to be the first to say this, but i didn't fall in love with this song. dont get me wrong, Lp are a fucking awesome band. they were my first favourite band adn will always hold a special place in my heart. my honest first impression when i heard this was that it is very flat adn empty. it doesnt have the ummppff that their old stuff did. after a 4 year gap they needed something that jumped in your face, like 'we're not dead here we are screams!'. maybe i got that impression from snippets i heard of some of their new material on trailers for their video diary, but they should have come back with an explosion, not this. it's kinda mellow...sits in the background kinda thing. adn i dont like the video. sorry but im sick of bands making videos with stock footage. (i didnt like it wen tool adn apc did it either). all that said i still await the album adn hipe for some better material. |

if we ignore the concept for a moment, we have a song about todays teenagers, who are conditioned to be 'perfect citizens' remove orginality etc etc.we're put on drugs (antidepressants) and told how to act. in rebellion we apparently either turn goth (darken ur clothes) or go postal with weaponry (strike a violent pose). and then we have gun violence in schools, revenge with a gun because teenagers have too much pressure from society to be perfect adn to cope with multiple role expectations. the chorus reminds me of old people who hate and are scared of teenagers - it makes me laugh!
now for the concept..hmm...hard one...we've just come from sleep adn nightmares to teenagers, social commentary from the dead? or he's scared for teenagers who all seem desperate to be dead, adn he doesn't want them suffering what he is? nah, too soppy...the patient is becomming extroverted maybe? pulling his head out of his own ass? |

love the song...so creepy and weird - perfect
as always we have more than one meaning to the song. it obviously has reference to young men that went off to war, what that did 'to their legs adn to their tongue' and their minds. they see hell on earth adn know there is no hope for peace in teh afterlife, not after the crimes they have commited in war.
i've heard stuff about the patient's father being in a war but i'm unsure. patient may have been in a war, and is comparing that experience to this one in teh land of the dead.
he blames himself and his mother for his life adn where he is now. |

contrary to popular belief cancer did not kill the patient - they always mention a problem with the heart, never cancer, except this song. then again all teh pics in teh album booklet have a cancer patient in it so yeah...gerard says that inthis song cancer is a metaphor, a very powerful metaphor of disease suffering adn death. isn't it 1 in 3 american dies from cancer nowadays? so it's something that has affected us all in some way or another. it makes a personal connection with the audience...but the patient...represents his degeneration before death, whether from cancer or not. |

i believe that the band have left the conclusion of the story open for interpretation - does he die, or does he live 'asleep or dead' not sure where but i think his lover or wife may have joined him in teh afterlife, adn thus he says 'honey if u stay i'll be forgiving' adn he wants to go home - but home to life or his new accepted home of hell? we must decide..i haven't listened to and interpreted teh whole album enough to come to my own personal conclusion. |

i love this song..dont know how some think it's weak. i at first didn't like it for the beginning, but now i know what it says adn means i love it. i think it's one of the golden ones on the album. im not so big on the new slow songs like cancer and i dont love you, still really good but i think there are much better songs on teh album. this song is like nothing they're ever done before, which i love. definately about the beforementioned nightmares and such..now the connection to teh patient...well this journey through the land of the dead itself appears alot like a nightmare, it could possibly be the patient convincing himself that he's not dead, just asleep. adn there is mentioning of asleep or awake in famous last words too. |

i love this song to death. but it has caused alot of people to consider that the entire album is about vampires..etc etc and the whole town being run over by vamps etc etc. i strongly believe that that is incorrect for several reasons.
1) honey...has nothing to do with that. it's about a relationship falling apart. a cheating girlfriend and a drug addicted boyfriend.
2) early sunsets...is about zombies and dawn of the dead. not vampires.
3) skylines adn...is about september 11. not vampires.
4) cubicles..is about an office romance (although the band have stated that it has nothing to do with the whole album)
plus if u attempt to look at it objectively, the whole vampire thing doesn't connect throughout the entire album. people just attempt to make links to serve their self esteem adn make themselves feel accomplished.
i think that this song is about vampires however. or at least is used as a metaphor. but i don't see vamps in anything else.
i personally see album as a record of several different couples and the hardship they face, trauma, suicide, breakups, adn love. the couple in demolition lovers have their story continued in revenge. |

i have the personal belief that this concept of this album is not about a vampire story (which some people try to say it is..i mean common..only one song refers to vamps and that can be considered a metaphor) i have decided teh whole album is about different couples and relationships. this one is the relationship where the girl has cheated in the guy, adn they guy uses drugs adn alcohol to deal with it - or he was already using them and she uses them as an excuse. i think this is quite a personal song for gerard, he obviously had drug adn alcohol problems, and i think he had similar pormblems with a cheating girlfriend. |
