The Dresden Dolls – Sex Changes Lyrics 16 years ago
ChizzyNizzy is right. It could go both ways. Not listening to it closely, i thought it was about losing one's virginity, and about how sex can be so addictive that even after an abortion, people will continue having unsafe sex.

The Dresden Dolls – Coin-Operated Boy Lyrics 16 years ago
Until today, I never thought of this song as a song about masturbation. I thought it was just about how she would love to have the perfect man because she keeps destroying other men.

But the masturbation thing makes sense too- and it fits with other DD songs (i.e. First Orgasm) in that it discusses how lonely it is to not receive physical affection from another person.

Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars Lyrics 17 years ago
This is my and my boyfriend's 'song.' When we first got together, we knew that it would be hard to be together long distance like we are, and sometimes we would be on the phone all night, at times just not saying or doing anything, and we could feel like we were together. That line "these things will never change for us at all" makes me so happy to hear :)

We'll have been together six months in August.

Alien Ant Farm – Movies Lyrics 19 years ago
Strangely enough, I thought this song was about graduation or some other life change like that. He keeps talking about being free and last scenes and throwing away years gone by to live in the now. I don't know, just the vibe I got.

Alanis Morissette – 21 Things I Want in a Lover Lyrics 19 years ago
I love this song, it's just (and I don't mean to be picky) but she lists 18 things, not 21...I've always wondered why she did that...

Staind – Outside Lyrics 19 years ago
Commercial? OK, so? If it's good music to you, buy it. I like Staind's lyrics (esp this song) as opposed to Durst's. I did a dance to this song for a talent show once, to express what I thought about everyone around me. I lost, but this song always makes me think of that...

Staind – Epiphany Lyrics 19 years ago
THis song is one of my two theme songs (the other is Outside by the same band) I had a bad experience of beign an outcast in jr high, and Staind seemed to get me through. Everything in thes song applies to me: "Your words to me just a whisper" was the people saying mean things to my face. "Forget all the things I should have said" was that I always thought of something smart to say to the bullies after the fact. "I speak to in riddles" is the same. "I am nothing more than a little boy inside that cries out for attention, though I always try to hide" was that I was always a free spirited artist trying to get attention, but then it would be bad attention I didn't want. "I talk to you like children" was how these people didn't understand what I thought and felt.

God, this is a beautiful song.

Staind – Zoe Jane Lyrics 19 years ago
The first time I heard this song, I had just had a fight with my dad. I thought I would turn on some Staind to vent, and I hear this, and I suddenly feel enthralled to apologize. It's so pretty, I love this!

Hot Hot Heat – Talk To Me, Dance With Me Lyrics 19 years ago
I always thought it was about a guy with a girlfriend who is enticed by another girl he's enthralled to talk/dance with. Definitely one of their best!

Hot Hot Heat – Touch You Touch You Lyrics 19 years ago
Its about porn/chat rooms, as well as the downgrade of socitety on technology I think.

In the beginning, he says "Cars look oh so so sad,
Roads look oh so so drab," which means he'd rather be at his computer than outside going places.

"Windows copied and pasted, Buildings look pixelated," is that he's thinking about everything around him into computer terms.

"Alphabetical names, dropping, wet dripping, no rain will blur invisible ink," is about how there are millions of screennames running down the page, and even though they blend together, they each seem separate in a way, because no rain will blur them.

"I think you think I wrote it down, down, down, down," is about all the people who don't get this chatting thing, kind of like "back in the day, we used to WRITE people letters, and it was more beleivable" or something.

"Why are you wired in to the wall" is the singers wish to meet the person he's chatting with.

"No, you won't believe it -not until you see it" is talking to the other person, basically saying that the singer looks better in person.

"No you won't believe it -not until I write it down" mocks those who are mocking technology in the last line about writing things down.

And the final chorus of "down, I touch you touch you" is one of two things: either he means he's going deeper into a person's personality and mentally touching them, or he actually meets the person he's chatting with and has sex with her. I generally think it's the former.

Man, I didn't know I paid this much attention to this song...

Hot Hot Heat – Aveda Lyrics 19 years ago
I think he's reffering to the hair products Aveda sells in the chorus, but he's saying in the song that he's doing it to make a girl happy.

The Cure – One More Time Lyrics 19 years ago
lipssocoldtheyburn might have something...even if all the lyrics aren't the normal idea of romantic, they've all got sort of a heartfelt thing to them, like you really feel like he's speaking from his soul, even in a song like "Killing an Arab."

Anyway, this song means a lot to me. It was the first Cure song I remember hearing, and I thought my dad put it on just for me, and the "touch the sky one more time" part was about how I loved it when he picked me up and swung me around and stuff. Now sometimes he sings the hard "hold me, hold me up so high" part and I feel like crying.

Sorry about the sappy part. The bottom line is, this song is beautiful.
