well, i think this is a great song. definitely one of hilary's best. did she write these lyrics herself, or did she have help? if she did this all herself then i'm really proud of her, she's really growing as an artist.
just thought i'd mention, theres a lame cover of this song by some band i'd never heard of, i think theyre called the go's or something. its nothing like the original, so dont bother listening to it. |

wow, this song completely steals from the who's "my generation" both in the general subject matter and even goes so far as to include the g-g-generation stutter from the original who song. the only difference in this song is the profanity which doesnt bother me in and of itself but i hardly think that makes it creative or original. |

i see the movie symbolism refering specifically to directing the movie, and how when you're making a movie you can do and redo a scene over and over until its right. obviously life isnt like that. he's wishing that love could be made perfect like that, wishes he had that kind of control.
still, i agree that with those that said sometimes life seems like a movie, but you cant really plan it when it happens, which makes it really beatiful when it does. |

i believe the line "I have spoke with the tongue of angels" refers to the Bible passage that says something along the lines of if i speak with the tongue of angels but have not love i am nothing. I agree that this song is about love but is not limited to the love of a woman, though that may be part of it. He knows about Christ's sacrifice on the cross and believes it ("I believe in the Kingdom Come...You carried the cross And my shame You know I believe it") but he has yet to move beyond knowing it in his head and in his heart instead. so yes, it is about love, the love of Christ, and even the love of a woman perhaps. basically his life isnt complete, and he's still searching for that final piece, knowing he has love. |
