the first time i heard this song my head almost exploded...i'm a huge dylan fan and i love the original, and at first i couldn't get over hearing rage do it, but then i grew to love it. if anyone covers this song, i'm really glad it's them. it rocks. |

i love the last verse. and yeah, there is an anarchist tone to it, but i don't think that's quite the message. i think it's more anti-conformity and anti-dependency, especially upon dogma and organizations. |

| John Lennon – I Found Out Lyrics

Brilliant song. It's about John's journey through the sixties and his frustration with the hare krishna types and fellow peaceniks. The red hot chili peppers covered this very well. |

only seven comments? for shame.
the lack of words in this song only makes more brilliant. it's insanely catchy, and my local alternative station plays it non-stop, which i don't mind. |

i loove this song. i'm not sure what the whole "if you want commitment/put on your best suit" verse means, but the part where he growls as he sings...oh,man, it ALMOST makes me attracted to him. almost. but not quite. |

| Bright Eyes – First Day of My Life Lyrics

|
the most profoundly beautiful love song of recent years. my favorite song on "i'm wide awake, it's morning."
And you said,
"This is the first day of my life.
Glad I didn't die before i met you.
Now I don't care, I could go anywhere with you.
And I'd probably be happy." |

| Simon and Garfunkel – America Lyrics

i love this song, it's such a beautiful vision of traveling across the country, kind of like kerouac's "on the road"...in a way. my favorite line is
"I'm empty and aching and I don't know why..." |

i LOVE this song. it's transcendent beauty will live on and spread the beauty of john lennon's words for all to hear. john says he was really depressed when he recorded this, and it sort of shows. he isn't very energetic(not that he normally is). |

this song is hot, in a way. i'm straight, and i love this song. anyone who insults it and demeans franz for you know, writing a gay song, is probably uncomfortable with their sexuality. |

| The White Stripes – Cannon Lyrics

yeah, the lyrics can be pretty unintelligible. i love the pounding guitar riff throughout the whole song. i love the line near the end .."lord above...i command" where Jack really sings, i mean, he always sings, but he holds a note. it's strange but cool. |

| The White Stripes – Ball and Biscuit Lyrics

oh man, this song is sexy...everything from jack's vocals to the soaring guitar solos is purely sexual. a brilliant piece of work. it's also dylan's favorite white stripes song. |

this is really the only cover of my favorite song of all time, imagine, that i accept and enjoy. it definently changes the tone to a darker one, but that's ok, and it's really a nice change. |

no one's posted about this song??? has no one seen harold and maude?? this song is so inspiring, so romantic, and such a trademark of that movie. i can't hear it without thinking of bud cort with his brown corduroy jackets and big seventies scarves walking up to maude's door. it's definently a song of the generation, and really a classic and a great introduction to the brilliance that is cat stevens. |

| Nine Inch Nails – Closer Lyrics

I don't think this song is about rape or sexual abuse at all, even though the wording may offend some I think it's pretty close to being a love song. just...a very sexual love song. for example: "help me become somebody else, help me get away from myself, you're the reason i stay alive." it's pretty romantic |

| The Beatles – A Day in the Life Lyrics

this is one of my favorite beatles songs. as george martin says in the anthology, it's almost as if john's voice is sort of piercing you, it's as if he's singing from the dead. similar to 'free as a bird' in a way, only less uplifting.
does anyone know what the weird noise repeated at the end is? it's a very sgt.pepper thing to do, but i never knew quite what it was. |
