Also, I heard that bananarama wrote this song about sting. They met him and he was apparently quite nasty about their music. They wanted to get their revenge so they wrote this song about him. But they didn't want the record company to know it was about sting cos he was more important than they were so they used his real name [gordon] sumner. The song was originally entitled cruel sumner, but a mistake at the printing stage changed it to cruel summer. When sting found out he was furious and his response was to write 'message in a bottle', a reference to a petrol bomb. Bananarama heeded the warning and never wrote a song about sting again. |

What does this song mean to me? This song means watchin steve dancing about with some stupid outfit that he's decided to dress up in. then going into his room and saying, 'Steve, your room is shit. Can I have a blackjack?' Later that day, I will go into steve's room with wattsit and laugh at
a) the number of different sets of top trumps
b) the little yoda that remianed on the corner shelf for the entire year
c) the selection of wham bars under his bed; and
d) the number of schweppes glasses with an inch of water or juice (probably the shitty juicee that JJ bought) left in the bottom. |

Can i just say that americanmusic, if your going to quote something, at leat take the time to get it right, or don't bother putting it in quotation marks - that's how chinese whispers start.
This song reminds me of my mate Chris, cos he is like, SO filthyGorgeous, and also, he used to scissor with his best mate Ry. And he loved it. I bet they're doin it now. |

When i first heard this song i said to myself, "Hey I like this song. It's good." But then i listened to the lyrics a bit closer and then i thought to myself, "Actually I don't like this song. It upsets me." Now every time i hear it i can't help but to cry until i feel sick. The song is about someone drinking to forget. When something goes bad, they just order a drink and get kanshked. I had a friend called JJ once. He had the same problem as the person in the song. He was a good person, he went to church with me every sunday and we had some real good times. But JJ couldn't resist a pint of beer. One night he got so drunk that he set fire to all his clothes, claiming that they were possessed by the devil. He even burned his favourite 'Get out of my tree' t-shirt. We tried to make him stop drinking but he wouldn't listen. The last time i saw JJ alive, he was getting the shots in with his pal 'Rattles' mccaw. That night he ended up in hospital with a burst kidney. He died that night. And now when i hear this song it just makes me so crazy to think that gretchen is in someway glamourising alcohol. I miss you JJ. We all do. |

This song is about love. I loved this girl once but she rejected me. We appeared on a TV show on a saturday night about a year ago. The basis of the show was trying to get people to go out with each other and kiss and stuff. The girl i wanted was also wanted by another man and on live national TV she had to chose between the two of us. I am a very nice person. I like reading, walking in the park, collecting badges that i fasten to a hat and i also live with my parents which i think is very nice. I'm also vegetarian and rubbish at football. The other man was good looking, had a cool job and was generally much more desirable than me. I thought that because i was nice that i could win. However, turns out that the woman picking that other guy was the 'most nailed on thing ever'. At least that's what chris and james said. |

'Been to the year 3000, not much has changed...' Ok, fair enough, i will give you the benefit of the doubt as i haven't been there myself. If you say not much has changed then I believe you.
'But they live under water...' Er, thought you just said not much had changed? If one day i was living above water and the next I was living under water, I would consider that quite a significant difference and worthy of note. Perhaps a better lyric would have been 'Not much has changed, oh actually, everything has changed because the human race has somehow managed to make the transition into a sub-aquatic world. I looked your distant relative up while i was there, and it turns out that i most certainly would.' |
