Prince – Let's Go Crazy Lyrics 9 years ago
@[michaelpzo:10325] Isn't that crazy at all...more like prophetic... and from my perspective, beyond prophetic. I think his whole life is an example, a prime example of what Christ spoke of, of what Christ said would be built from His example - including designing his own death, all based from Christ's teaching. I think all true believers will do this, design their death, with purpose, and direction. Not suicide... but conscious rejoining/seperation (depending on your perspective) with the divine.

Prince – Purple Rain Lyrics 9 years ago
I analyze words, songs, life... from a perspective formed around phonetics. "Purr" "Pull" "Reign" - speaks to an almost gravitational (pull) toward the feminine (purr - --must I explain?--), which rules human existence (reigns) -ie the Universe is fractally feminizing - the "law of attraction" is deceptively feminizing. Deal with it, or be crushed into acceptance.

Reading oldest to new, this was the first comment that struck a chord with me. Maybe a bit simplistic, but maybe that is fitting. It is about life.

What an interesting interpretation. I suspect you are right, and this is exactly what Pete was thinking about when writing it.... but that's just my guess.

Led Zeppelin – Houses of the Holy Lyrics 15 years ago

I see a man trying to coax a woman into letting go of her fear of this existence, and to place trust in the "big picture". So he is warming up to her at first, saying "let's go there, let's do that, let's have fun, while we watch the unfolding of this tapestry we call life - for why be anything but perfectly happy while this "thing" happens".

Then he tries to succinctly explain some of the mystery: holy houses/white doves = good/all that is good - yet out of "good" is where darkness/evil finds it's birth, and this perplexing juxtaposition is actually proof that there is nothing to worry about... and that she knows this in her core, if she actually examines it further.

So even though there is "evil", it's still OK, because in the big picture, first off, it emerged from good... so in effect, it is more illusionary than a brief glance would detail. Even then, we seem to be some kind of balancing system that is unassailable, with angels at our command, and perfect weapons by our side - all part of the big picture, all part of our purpose here.

So let us not worry about the details, but do what comes naturally.... and boy just wait and see what marvels come from that! Just wait till she finds out the depth of "woman"'s destiny!

So then, if she opens up, and let's go of the fear, well the world will become a very different place, one where she too can be led along gently. If she goes along, she will get to see the immensity of the darkness ahead - yet even still, there is no sense in allowing it to get to you - because of that illusionary essence (much like a moire pattern - yes you can see it, but it's essence is actually rooted in how the brain, and optical system work - it's not really there, and yet it is). Believing that a moire pattern has more substance than it does is the first step in going crazy - so don't let the darkness steer you wrong - by believing in it, and worse fearing it.

And do not be bummed that you you have to deal with all this confusion either. This is only the movie you snuck into... it isn't really happening "to" you - you get to watch, you get to experience, but you don't get to "own" any part of it - it isn't "your" world.

So this guy is saying, don't get so wrapped up in the dream that you bog yourself down, and miss the true purpose for being here - something that he suggests might also be missed if she doesn't connect with someone like himself.

Waiting for death??? How about waiting for birth! God, light, consciousness (whatever you want to call it) is experiencing a process, a "movement and a rest" (or has it's being as, or is watching this process - take your pick/pick all three). Cornell knows something of this, and is moved by this process, for the process is utterly his whole being. He has accepted the mystery, and the seemingly violent structure of this process, and is patiently participating while faithfully disregarding the irrationality of it all. Christ's message is that part of this happening, this process, is His reason for being...but most of us (if not all of us)are incapable of positively influencing this purpose - so.... he went ahead, and prepared a place for each of us, where we all wait, alone, while this process plays out, especially the part that Jesus plays.

So, Cornell relates that sometime back, during a darker, hidden moment of his life, these realizations overcame him while reading the bible. I think the 'room full of emptiness' is metaphor for our selves, our darkness in relation to what will one day fill us. We are empty right now, waiting. So he realizes that if he does right by life, there is a reward of choosing where you wait - and he says, 'hey Lord, I want to wait in YOUR house, while YOUR rooms are being filled up - and I do not need anything else. I will wait till whatever you are doing is done'.

Now, even though he admits to believing in all this, he knows how weak, and confused people are, and that even he will likely still be wandering aimlessly on the day he departs this life. So he admits he will be doing anything, and everything at that moment, to get to where he wants to go, and that he believes that place is area around the crucifixtion. He remembers being there - the bruised, stormy sky, the new wine poured for all. He is saying, 'hey, when I die, that is where I want to go, to wait, there in your house' (and likely because that is where HE departs - so perhaps that would be a great place to wait...near the door) - so yeah, I think Cornell was telling us about the day it all finaly made sense to him personally, and that he accepted it - even though it scares the living daylights out of him - hence, the beginning of his wisdom.

I will start with the title lyric (want more? email me). I feel 'like a stone' refers to the biblical passages about Christ's descent from Mount of Olives, when the disciples raised a small uproar with their rejoicing. The Pharisees called to Jesus to shut them up, and He explained that if they held their tongues, the stones themselves would cry out about the kingship of Christ. I believe most, if not every great singer, sings about this one thing - as does every other thing in existence. Cornell is doing just as every stone would do/does, just as everything that exists does - he cries out the one story, the only story being told.

"lost his girlfriend, or wife, or whatever"??? LOL, I'll say one thing, yes, you definitely are not a huge Ryche fan. This song can not be removed from the context of the whole album - which is about mind control, murder, and hope.
