| Le Tigre – Deceptacon Lyrics

So, its been mentioned, but I think theres more meaning to the "who took the bomp" line than a "me first and the gimme gimmes" reference.
The original song by Barry Mann was "who PUT the bomp IN the.." LT's lyric is "who TOOK the bomp FROM the...".
The original song (Barry Mann) was praising the songwriter (the person who put the bomp) or music in general for making his girl fall in love with him.
The Le Tigre lyric is maybe accusing one songwriter in particular for TAKING anything worthwhile out of music and lyrics. The fact that the song was a cover (apparently? I'm not sure) by MFATGG is a double jab. |

I think its a bit harsh to call someone an idiot, who started by saying "I could be wrong". In any case, yes Kraftwerk>U2 |

"reading christmas catalogs" brings me back to when the huge jc penny catalog full of toys would show up and me and my siblings would circle which toys we were wishing, each of us with a certain marker color. mine was always red and usually circled a powerwheels (which I never received) |

the feel of the song seems less like a person he was dating and more of a guy roomate who is hardly home, and even when he is, he isnt actually 'there'. This seems like a theme of this record.
also, i think aurora is spot on with the interpretation of that line |

I hear "hyper producin'" at the "Hyperpatudes(?)" part. By the way, the "D.E.L.(e)" sample between the first and second verses is from the Handsome Boy Modeling School record, w/ Dan the Automator, Prince Paul, Del and a couple others. Worth a look. |

I notice this vaguely follows "Dont think twice, its alright" by Bob Dylan (later covered by Cash as well) in the chord progression/melody. Love both songs. |

Just a quick note- I think the laying in bed isnt awkwardness, but just a lack of closeness. They aren't uncomfortable with each other, just the opposite- they have gotten so used to each other that life is old and mundane. |

To add to The Variable-
I think that when they say "that every plan is a tiny prayer to father time", they are saying like, I could plan on visiting my family next week, but I'm actually just praying to live that long. When we make plans we are taking it for granted that we will be around to do those things. Well put, "a declaration for people to live." |

This song is on the 4 track "We Will Become Sillhouettes." you should check it, it has a rad mix of "Nothing Better" too.
About the song, I love the sample used for the melody. I think it sounds exactly like the sound on airplanes when the seatbelt light turns on. Especially the last note on the intro. Listen next time on a plane, and somebody tell me if Im accurate or imagining things. |

I picture this song about a person with dimensia or something like it. "did you say that yesterday or just right now" and "it takes a day to live a life" may be talking about this. kind of sad, but one of my fav nufan songs |
