The Smashing Pumpkins – White Spyder Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Yeah, a great song. It's one of the crazy combinations between rock/metal/techno/industrial rock/awesome that makes their songs stay original. The song itself is pretty straight forward, but I love the beat and the distorted riffs that keep playing throughout the song. 10/10 in my book. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Behold! The Night Mare Lyrics | 19 years ago |
What an incredible song. The song seems like it's about someone Billy loves and has lost, be it his mother or another woman he loved. I think the best part about this song is how similar the lyrics in it are to the poetry of Shakespeare. ie. "I pulled down the heavens, just to please you" That's just good writing, period. I think Billy really went out on a limb with this album, and if you don't like the sound then that's ok... but if you don't think the songs aren't good then you haven't heard this one. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Muzzle Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song is so personal to both Billy Corgan and every one of it's listeners. I think he speaks for everyone who has ever felt less than good, been misunderstood, or has ever been unable to understand themselves. This song could have a million meanings, and they all depend on what the listener has felt in his/her life. Absolutely beautiful song, I love it very much. Nice work Smashing Pumpkins, nice work. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Heavy Metal Machine Lyrics | 19 years ago |
!Notice There seem to be errors in these lyrics that have been posted. ...Somewhat large errors that drastically change the meaning of this song. The following changes should be made: "when they're metal, in their metal machines" Should be "We're the metal, in their metal machines" "when they're metal, and they're trying an excuse" Should be "We're the metal In their droning schemes" "it's all our mental, to all the once stiff wings" Should be "It's elemental To all the rust it brings" This is what azlyrics.com listed the lyrics as, I'd say consult a booklet from Machina/the machines of God to get them 100% straight. I only have the LP version of Machina, so rather than havign the lyrics listed I have a bunch of pages with paintings on them, plus an excerpt from a song (Glass and the Ghost Children). I always thought the lyrics I posted just now were the right ones, if they aren't then I am sorry for wasting my life and your time, but if they are right they lead me to think that this song is about how everyone is just a pawn, a sheep in a much larger plot. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – I Am One Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I loved this song to death, and thusly I broke it down somewhat largely... "I am one as you are three" -Billy trying to show how he is whole, he has become one: gained nirvana. "Try to find a messiah in your trinity" -This is just like saying 'Yeah, go to church, see what they have to teach you, like they know more than you or I do.' "Your city to burn Your city to burn" -When rome burned, Nero fiddled. Nero is said to be one of the forms of the Anti-Christ, meaning that if you go to church and learn their stuff you're just going to end up getting screwed by them. "Try to look for something In your city to burn," -Billy's way of saying to the listener 'Good luck learning anything from this place that will just screw you over, you won't find what I already know.' "you'll burn" -Telling the listener that they're just going to get burned -> Either go to hell (Because you don't understand God like Billy does) or 2 get physically burned (They are going to get the royal screw job for wasting their time) "Am I as I seem?" - Similar to saying that the listener doesn't even know Billy. "I'm down Down, so down" -Two meanings I derived from this one, either that Billy feels sad though about not having anything left in his beliefs or that he's down as far as he can go (Hell). "Time is right for a guiding light" -Explaining how the listener needs to get some real guidance, not the kind that can be found in some kind of instutition. "Your city to burn Your city to burn Try to look for something In your city to burn, you'll burn" -See above "See you," -Telling the listener good-bye, but works in a second way: "don't you just want to See you" Billy is trying to say that the listener doesn't see his or herself for what he or she really is. "I am one" -Back to the entire wholeness/nirvana/zen/yin-yang thing. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Jellybelly Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The song isn't entirely about a relationship, it's also about society. B.C. states that "Nothing here ever lasts" which seems to comment on planned obsolescence and how everything just fades into nothingness anyhow (Like in 1979 how everything turns as being 'forgotten and absorbed into the earth, below') He says "You're" a lot, meaning he is also clearly talking to a person, more than likely the partner in his relationship. This song works as a way of saying how a loving relationship doesn't function when you've got nowhere to go. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – The Everlasting Gaze Lyrics | 19 years ago |
As some of us know from buying the album and not jsut downloading it because we're true SP fans (YAY!) The Everlasting Gaze is the first song on the album, and Billy wanted the first words of his next album after Adore (Some call it a flop, I call a 3 mil. seller not too bad) to be to all his listeners "You know I'm not dead" Billy also said that this album is about a musician who loses his mind. I think the musician is supposed to represent Billy Corgan and his career. We all know he's full of himself, so he makes this song mimic his ways from Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness album -> namely the song "Zero" I guess this song sets the mood for the rest of the album with the over-driven and heavily distorted bass, and it introduces you to the main character of Billy's album Machina. |
The Smashing Pumpkins – Where Boys Fear to Tread Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The line "on dead highways, her black beauties roam" is in no way a reference to beautiful women. I mean come on, how could you miss the reference to black beauties. Black beauties are drugs, which leads me to believe this is not a song about something so esoteric as teenage relationship anguish but a song about a relationship with a drug addicted woman. |
