Yeah, i would have thought their popularity would have been inevitable after they supported The Cure (handpicked by self confessed fan Rob Smith). They make beautiful atmospheric music and Alison's voice is simply breathtaking. |

I might be trying to be too deep and meaningful here but for some reason im drawn to think that this is in relation to the 'serpent' creature from the whole Adam and Eve story in the Bible. To cut a long story short, 'slither things' are shallow, vain creatures and always will be. |

I see it as being a song about spoilt lil rich kids who grow up with everything they want and expect that to be the same when theyre an adult - "raised by the queens your mother paid, so how does that make you a human god" Thats where the 'and all the ladies want you, and sometimes gentlemen too' - this is his own view on how the world sees him, that everyone should think hes great. The 'hide from your own reflection' is about that little part deep inside him that knows he isnt what he believes he is so he refuses to acknowlege it. |

It's cool how this song has so many heavy-fitting interpretations. When i heard this, i thought it was about drugs: Sleeping is used as a metaphor for being jacked up. 'Shes nothing more than fiction' - Someone who is permanently on drugs completely lose touch with reality and are not anything like themselves. The Pixel Army are the drugs themselves or possibly the dealers. 'Finger on the killswitch' - Possibly ending a friendship with the drugged up person or maybe going to the police. 'Dont be afraid to expose yourself before i shut you down' - The person should face up to what theyre doing or 'i' will. 'you made some changes since the virus caught you sleeping' - 'The Virus' could be the friend or the police finding out about this person's drug problem. The changes would be like trying to hide it. |

I see it as being about how people see vanity and their image as too important. E.G the 'chrome max factor' and 'radio waves hitting your brain from a phone' + the reacing driver who went too fast and ended up brain dead. 'now your number means nothing' Basic message: People who try to be something they're not will end up destrying themselves. |

My interpretation is that this is about leaving things too long. For example, having aspirations to do well in life etc, then not following (or "chasing") them until its too late ("Chasing the ghost"). The wings are the means of transport to reach your goals, hence you need wings of 'steel' in order to be strong and achieve them. However, if your wings are "on fire" or "tired", it means you "Cant get there from here". The idea of "Chasing the ghost of time" is that you can never catch time, hence its a ghost (intangible). |
