well i really have no idea what this song could be about - just want to say that i think wil555' thought is very interesting ... but in this context, what could all this "go"-lines mean: She wonders who'll be the first to go |

there is a german song from thomas d. and reading the first lines of this song here i was immediately reminded to the thomas d.-song - i think they are about the same topic. The german song is called "Tagträumer" (Daydreamer) or something like that. the narrator speaks to the daydreamer (just like here) and is actually looking down on him and abusing him - but the last thought is something like: and i can't take it, that you are more happy than me. So summed up, the daydreamers way of life is better. perhaps preinfluenced by the first song i am reading something similar into this song - especially as: I've got a taste for blood Leave the weak, leave the young I've got a taste for blood I'm walking out without you You will kill or be killed It's about progress I've got a taste for blood does not sound very positive to me. |

| don't like how the backrythm is done in the DFA version - sounds like a cheap computer game. | |
| Bloc Party – Price of Gas Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| i like the double meaning of the title: price of gas. especially as they are refering to the more intuitive meaning in the first few lines (price is rising) - but the price is not just money (and the other price is rising as well of course) | |

hihi ... i was always not sure what he is singing in the end: you are the a) biggest lie b) bluest lie c) bluest eye i was quite sure about the lie-thing and just unsure about the first word. so in fact i feel it to be a positive love song - if you compare it with the biggest lie thing. |

hey cool. wasn't looking at this page since ~4 month ... and then again 2 days after sombody answered: timing. thanks for your help. the second line is perfectly clear, now. i just would be interested: is the expression: "show of local color" an expression often used? i mean is it an established expression to express something specific, perhaps in relation to nationalism? hmm okay, suppose this post is rather confusing, sorry ... ähm ... could somebody give the same meaning of "show of local color" in other words? |

help! as english is not my mother language, i have problems to figure out the meaning of those two lines: > There was a show of local color and I failed to stray > Cause I had nothing to offer but insufficiency what is a show of local color? has it to do something with nationalism or similar? and he couldn't dispel it, because he had no better solution to offer? thanx |
