I believe this song is about going through divorce, and afterwards living a little more selfishly because you're creating a new life for yourself. The line "I'll be back in Shake to see how my babies have grown" makes me think of joint custody where one of the parents has moved far away. The line "bring me a team of replacements in case the place I'm taking's my own" sounds like someone who is dating but doesn't rule getting back into a serious relationship, making themselves feel a little cold because they've already had a family and now they're bringing a new mommy or daddy into the picture for their kids to adjust to, or possibly feel abandoned by. |

i've been following the outlook on this song for a long time. that relationships are based on sex and that love doesn't exist. it would be easier to just masterbate and not think about sex or relationships.
i think that isn't the MESSAGE of this song though, i think he's sort of poking fun at this outlook, like, "i dated once and got my heart broken, so its all fake and i dont need it." i've just heard this song for the first time today and i think rivers really called me on my b.s. i think i'm going to try and fall in love now. |

this song is hilarious if your a guy with a close female friend! expecially if one of you are in the performing arts field.
the song is about a close friend to a girl(jackie) who he can see dates a lot of really terrible boyfriends, and the friend has seen so many of them come and go that he can see the personality flaws that are going to cause them to break up the first time he hears her even mention the person. i also think jackie sounds very attractive and confident, and not only does that cause guys of all types including bad to fall for her, but also pisses off every female around her because they view her as a "threat". i can see my mom in my head saying "that girl drives everyone around her nuts!"
i hate to mention it, because i've written songs about people that i haven't wanted to date, and i dont want to put dan in a bad light, but i think he has found he's starting to become taken with her himself. more of a passing interest then a full on infatuation, but the line "jackie dressed in cobras giving me ideas, what i need now is ideas" makes me thinks that she keeps popping into his head from time to time, and now he's worried about the friendship and finding it strained. |

i think this song is from the point of view of someone who has committed suicide.
the lines in the beging, "inside of me today there is no one" is patton's way of saying that the actual person or soul of the person who has once lived in this body is now gone and only filled with "empty space."
"there looking throught the windows at me" could mean that someone has found his body. i prepose it was a hanging from the lines "walking on air, up from the wheelchair, ill find the suicide, that i deserve." walking on air is his body spasming as he dies.
now he looks over the world he has left from the hills of hell, and wishes for salvation, or wants a "halo" |

i think this song could be a look inside the mind of someone who was at once part of a peacefull movent or cultural sect with new ideas and loosing all those ideals in order to "grow up." although i'm to young to know about disco's firsthand, it was supposedly something beutiful in a sense that there was no color discrimination, or sexism, if you could dance, you were excepted, and that the person who once believed this would now "rather not get involved." and when that happened, the disco dancer in them had died |

in the stinking shitpile of music that was the timeperiod that this was written in more than likely circa 2002 - 2003, bands like N Sync and Briteney Spears were impossible to get away from. with that, you heard stupid korn kids and metalheads spouting off things about how love songs suck, and how pop is garbage. well, if youve only heard the kind of stuff that was being spewed out of record companies asses at the time, of course you would think this, but to any true pop fan that knew "good pop," this was sickening. the darkness were baisically saying, hey love songs dont all have to be bad, pop doesnt always suck, and here we are to kick your ass off. at the time i saw this band, i was awe struck and appaled all at the same time, to me, this really was art. i saw the eightees and spandex come back before my eyes, mindless self indulgence singing and dressing style seriously bitten, and possibly the funniest video ive ever seen. to me this is true art and thank god that someone could actually write something interesting in the mainstreem without the help of the neptunes. get this on vinyl, cd, or eight track if its all you could afford, its very good. |

no one gets this joke. the truth is about this song that before it was released it had alternative lyrics, but they were once again by another rapper. the song originally had the lyrics from shifty by onyx. the band just slapped together some "ultra gay" lyrics to sing becoase they wanted to avoid copyright infringement. also, jimmy urine was asked about this in song in an interview and said that he doesnt hate jimmy page, he just hates the idealism around old rockers and how people turn regular people into gods becoase they play in a good band. |
