Avril Lavigne – Girlfriend Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Listen to the chorus of The Rubinoos 'I wanna be your boyfriend'. Things that make you go hmmm! |
Kings of Leon – Closer Lyrics | 15 years ago |
A great track but the hyonotic background music is a slowed down version of REM's 'leave' from the New Adventures album. |
Pearl Jam – Given to Fly Lyrics | 17 years ago |
Before reading any comments on this song I had related it to the life of Jesus as it bears alot of resemblance to his life story. Whatever people get from it, IMO its a great song. |
Tears for Fears – Mad World Lyrics | 18 years ago |
This is a great song however it is interpreted. I always think of George Orwell's 1984 when I hear this song - I don't know why, maybe because it seems to sum up the world portayed in the book for the lead character Winston Smith. A bit random I know, but there's my thoughts on it! |
Cher – We All Sleep Alone Lyrics | 18 years ago |
useful/useless fact on this song: it was written by Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi. |
Anastacia – Left Outside Alone Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It's a song about being in a relationship and being cut out and ignored by the other person you love. |
Live – Lightning Crashes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is an excellent song that is about one life ending and one beginning. The first time I heard this song was the day after my Grandads funeral and a week later my sister had a daughter. It fitted perfectly and this song now represents a period in my life where I realised the cycle of life. |
Bon Jovi – Dry County Lyrics | 19 years ago |
A great song and the heavy guitar solo in the middle is awesome. |
Bon Jovi – Keep The Faith Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Probably the best Jovi song and it still sounds great over a decade later. |
U2 – Stay (Faraway, So Close!) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The song written from the perspective of someone in the spirit world (either a guardian angel or departed loved one) and says how they can watch and feel everything the living person does, but cannot help them. |
Guns N' Roses – Estranged Lyrics | 19 years ago |
An incredible song, close to being my fave GNR one. Estranged = having lost someones love/affection. Perfect guitar/piano/lyrics to sum that confused emotional feeling up. |
Guns N' Roses – Don't Cry Lyrics | 19 years ago |
2 people who have been in an intense relationship realise they have to go their seperate ways because that special feeling has died. One of the couple is saying how he understands and is prepare to let the other person go despite how strongly he feels about them. It is a very powerful song and most people can relate to it. |
U2 – All I Want Is You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
jdappleton, I desperately wanted this song for the first dance on my wedding night, but I was over-ruled in favour of Bryan Flippin' Adams. I guess she just didn't get it the way I did. Anyway, we are separated now, so maybe next time... All I will say is her wanting material things and me just wanting her love is just how it ended up. |
U2 – Where The Streets Have No Name Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It's certainly not about LA robbwhite. In the build up to Live Aid Bono and his wife were one of the few artists to visit Etheopia and see the famine for themselves. As mentioned further up, when viewed from a nearby plateau there were just rows and rows of tents lined up, which made the area look like a city...where the streets have no name. The song is about his desperation going there with his wife (I'll go there with you) and of seeing the situation but feeling so helpless (It's all I can do). As with the song One I saw this explantion from a band member in an interview. Lets be honest, would a band trying to save the world use the experience of being in a third world county to write a song over that of visiting LA? |
U2 – With or Without You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
joeso87, 2 members of U2 had a protestant upbrining and 2 a catholic one, so there is a strong religious undertone in the band, albeit probably their interpretation of it. To me the first part of the song refers to the disciples watching the crucifixion and saying they do believe he will return from the dead (I'll wait with or without you), the rest of the song refers to walking on water (through the storm..) and how Jesus didn't disguise his powers despite knowing the fate that he had to face (and you give yourself away). I guess it is a song that says different things to different people, but I personally can't see past the clear religious element. A great song however you hear it. |
U2 – One Lyrics | 19 years ago |
In an interview (long ago!) one of the band (can't recall which one) explained the song was a conversation between a son and his father (the son is the one talking). His father did not approve of his gay lifestyle but the sons partner has since died of aids and the son is now dying of the disease. The father is all the son has left in the world. The line 'you gave me nothing now that's all I've got' still blows me away all these years later. |
