The Beatles – The Long and Winding Road Lyrics 21 years ago
Read as much into it as you want...In the end it is a love song...love of a person...time...or place....but make no mistake it is a love song....one of the few to never use the phrase "I love you" or even the word love....trust me....it's a love song.

Sting – Wrapped Around Your Finger Lyrics 21 years ago
"You consider me the young apprentice
Caught between the Scylla and Charibdes,"

Younger man older woman..."Scylla and Charibdes" greek monsters ie "rock and a hard place."

She has the advantage, she thinks.

"Staring at the ring around your finger"
She is married...

"I have only come here seeking knowledge,
Things they would not teach me of in college
I can see the destiny you sold
Turned into a shining band of gold"

He is not as deep into her as she thinks.
It's a fling, and he nows she is taking a the chances..."destiny you sold"

"I'll be wrapped around your finger"
He's playing her...

"Mephistopheles is not your name
But I know what you're up to just the same"

She not the "devil" but the game she is playing is not a good one.

"I will listen hard to your tuition
And you will see it come to it's fruition"

He'll play along..

"Devil and the deep blue sea behind me
Vanish in the air you'll never find me"

It's over....he's out of there..

"I will turn your face to alabaster
Then you'll find your servant is your master, "

Alabaster....her face is white with dispair.

The Beatles – Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) Lyrics 21 years ago
Focusing “Norwegian wood” is misses the point.

“I once had a girl,
Or should I say
She once had me.”

She’s in control…(and the line I most like.)

“She showed me her room,
Isn’t it good?
Norwegian wood.”

They shared a connection…

“She asked my to stay and told me sit anywhere,
So I looked around and I noticed there wasn’t a chair.”

You can visit, however don’t get too conformable.

“I sat on a rug
Biding my time,
Drinking her wine.
We talked until two, ”

A deeper connection…

“And then she said,
‘It’s time for bed’.”

She's still calling the shots.

“She told me she worked in the morning and started to laugh,”

It is a fling for her, a simple prop to fill here time.

"I told her I didn’t, and crawled off to sleep in the bath.”

He calls her bluff and takes a cold shower…

“And when I awoke
I was alone,
This bird has flown,”

It was no bluff…it’s her nature.

“So I lit a fire,
Isn’t it good?
Norwegian wood.”

He reflects on their connection and laments.
