woah this song does remind me of The Stranger, a LOT. This song just feels hot, all the mentions of the beach and sand and weightlessness. And in the Stranger a man kills another man basically because he's on a beach having heatstroke or something and just freaks out and shoots some guy. Then he goes to trial but his extremely lonely life that he has lived doesn't go over well with the jury. They're "sensitive to fake nods" and he's not giving any. oh! and the name of the song! Evil! in the Stranger everyone thinks this guy is Evil cuz he didnt cry at his mom funeral! ok i think i'm just talking out my ass now. |

i really disagree with princeyamiyugi2, the line, "don't wake me i plan on sleeping in" is obviously saying that the world is asleep to problems. that everyone is in a blissful state of non-awarenness, which i guess IS nice in a way... but i definetly don't htink its "about how the world is actually a great place" |

woah i never before thought of it as being about a new relationship, but it makes it an even more beuatiful song if i think about it that way. When i was on a plane over the summer i listened to this song non stop while looking out the window so i could feel like i actually WAS the song. Which was cool, actually maybe its not about a new realtionship. Really when most people get on an airplane they're flying to something new, so its probably just about any new experience. The whole song is just a metaphor for taking a new step and trying something new, just like an airplane does for people. |

there's also the bit about "personal brochures that dust" then the "Days you spend wanting some of Michael Landon's grace / strike back, now they shape your life as stony as his face". I think these parts are talking about how his parents lives were not living up to their dreams. They had all these personal brochures of a great life that just turned to dust. And a stony life, which doesn't sound good. Has anyone seen the video? sooo cute |
