Rage Against the Machine – I'm Housin' (EPMD cover) Lyrics 20 years ago
On the live album Zach says "Give ya best wishes to the best MC - the E, the D, the O-U-B-L-E". I believe E-double is a rapper that Zach listens/listened to. He mentions him on Wake Up where he says "and like E-Double I'm mad, still knee deep in this system's shit".

System of a Down – Violent Pornography Lyrics 20 years ago
The song is (imo) a rant on the media, specifically TV news, and how they show all this disgusting stuff and people just don't care because its under the guise of news. Also, I feel the parts with "everybody everybody...etc" are a sardonic view of the media's defense, saying well everyone does it, why is it so bad?

System of a Down – Soldier Side (Intro) Lyrics 20 years ago
anyone else get the feeling soldier-side is somehow related to suicide? Or am I just extra crazy because of this?

Sublime – We're Only Gonna Die For Our Own Arrogance Lyrics 20 years ago
I agree with whistle, this song seems to be about Hitler.
Built His Great Empire: Annexed and invaded most Western European Countries

Slaughtered His Own Kind: Hitler was part Jewish (one of his grandmothers I believe)

Killed Himself with His Own Mind: Hitler killed himself when he realized the Third Reich would soon collapse. The part about his own mind is the only part I don't have quite get.

System of a Down – Feel Good Lyrics 20 years ago
I'm going to disagree on the meaning of this song. To me it's more about how people would rather get high or feel good than go out and make a difference. The chorus then amplifies this with growing problems and just saying "[so and so] don't care I just wanna feel good." It goes from something as simple as missing a train because "she" was too lazy or high to something a hypothetical apoclypse and now noone cares because they all want to feel good at that moment instead of helping out. BTW, i got a majority of the basis off this song's forum w/ Hed PE as the artist instead of System. So go check that out to see a larger idea of what i mean.

Rage Against the Machine – Bullet In The Head Lyrics 20 years ago
I can't say I doubt this will do any good but if we really want "AttheDrive-in" to shut the fuck up we have to ignore him. I realize that by stating this I'm recognizing him, but he posts this shit on so many RatM forums and we just need to ignore this attention hound.
On the note of the song's meaning I have to agree with most of you guys about how the media and these corporations are making you braindead which can be even more dangerous than "a bullet in your fucking head". Also yellow ribbons is (imho) speaking about the yellow ribbions we in the (supposedly) good 'ol USA use to show support for our troops. If you look how many people have yellow ribbon stickers on their cars for this Iraq war it's disgusting.

Rage Against the Machine – Wake Up Lyrics 20 years ago
I actually didn't mean to refer to Cuba as facist(whether or not you think they are) even though it kinda came out that way. All I'm saying is Cuba is an example of Communism gone wrong(like it seems to do). Frankly, if it worked Communism would be great, it just doesn't.

Rage Against the Machine – Testify Lyrics 20 years ago
I'd agree with you guys on most things but the facts about George Orwell being a communist are all wrong. He was a socialist. While they seem similar they really aren't. He despised communism because of what happened in Russia and he only really felt it worked in a less extreme form aka Socialism.

System of a Down – B.Y.O.B. Lyrics 20 years ago
@dougie: First of all, System of a Down isn't against the United States Bill of Rights or the Constitution(what the gov't is supposed to be based on). People assume that just because they don't like the current administration or even most of the recent ones it means that they don't believe in the ideals the US was founded on. Also, of course the president isn't gonna fight but maybe if Dubya thought about sending his daughters instead of some poor American's who he doesn't even know, then maybe GWB would reconsider this piece of shit war. It doesn't affect him in the least except that it's making him and his "friends" richer. Also how can you like a band if you don't support what they stand for. People say that all the time well I love RatM's sound but their politics are messed up. I know I just made a reference to Rage but it's the same thing liberal bands getting bashed by so called "fans". I love SoaD's sound but their politics is what makes them System of a Down.

Rage Against the Machine – Renegades of Funk (Afrika Bambaataa cover) Lyrics 21 years ago
To me this song is about the dissenters and so-called heretics of different eras and times. It's RAtM's tribute to them for having their own opinions and risking their lives for them.

System of a Down – Cigaro Lyrics 21 years ago
well, jeroba, no offense but i don't see you making any suggestions as to the meaning. But anyways I think this song is about the rich people/the American Gov't and how they think they're better than everyone. Also, the lines about cock are supposed to be referencing the masculine fight about how my dick is bigger than yours and therefore im better. Also, the lines "Can't you see I love my cock/ Can't you see you love my cock/Can't you see that we love my cock" is how America thinks that everyone loves it yet like 2/3 of the world hate us.

Rage Against the Machine – Wake Up Lyrics 21 years ago
This song is about the government and it's corruption. Zach is telling ppl to wake up and realize the gov't is feeding them bullshit. The lines at the end are about blacks (like MLK and X) who they felt were threats and that they could eliminate them if (and when of course) necesary. Also, I personally like the Communistic ideals however it never works. People either cheat the system or it becomes a fascist and a dictatorship (like Cuba).

System of a Down – K.I.T.T. Lyrics 21 years ago
The song's real name is "I-E-A-I-A-I-O" and I think that it's about the media and the intelligence (or lack-there-of) in many Americans. It's all about how news shows aren't about informing us they're about getting ratings and news stories are just that, stories. Peter's pecker picked a pickle bearing pussy pepper is just a reference for sex and the Lois Lane Jimmy Carter line is about how ignorant Americans are to crime in the country that Lois Lane and Jimmy Carter could be classed together.

System of a Down – ChupaCabra Lyrics 21 years ago
Jesus-tapdancing-Christ if any of you knew a fucking thing you would know this song is titled "Bubbles". Second, the first verse is
"Fish that don't drown
Life in a bubble jungle
I wouldn't frown, not short another chuckle
Snake in the ground,
But I was in there for you
Now leaving town
life in a bubble jungle"
Next, Its not "were short another juggler" that makes no sense and it's "not short another chuckle". Third, the Latin American creature's name is spelled Chupacabra. On to the meaning:
I think it's about how people want to revolt and overthrow the government, but the king (crown) is even stopping them from doing that. Kinda like the French Revolution in how Louis XVI made sure that the 3rd Estate would have no rights and this worked until he made the Estates General and ya know what, fuck this, just read about it.

Tricky – Children's Story Lyrics 21 years ago
I believe the song is originally by Slick Rick (at least that's whos on the GTA: SA Soundtrack) and the last line is "Straight and narrow or your soul gets cast"
The meaning, is simple, it's a story about a kid who get's talked into crime and it pulls him in until one day he's about to get arrested and he runs a way, things escalate and he gets killed.

Slipknot – Opium of the People Lyrics 21 years ago
I'm pretty sure it's about religion and how people become addicted to it and it ends up controlled their whole lives like drugs, and Judas, just because they say organized religion is bad doesn't mean they're aetheists it just means they think that Christianity, Judaism, Islam, and all the other big religions are wrong.

KoЯn – Twist Lyrics 21 years ago
The meaning to this song is just anger. Pure anger. Sometimes you just need to vent and that's what Jon is doing. Personally, I think the song is gibberish (yet not meaningless) with words sprinkled in here and there and then there's "twist".

System of a Down – War? Lyrics 21 years ago
This song is actually about the Armenian Genocide and how the Turks (seljuks) killed off almost all of the Armenian people because (well its not completely known as turkey doesn't even recognize it) of the land, or because they're Christians in a part of the world thats Muslim, or because they felt threatened.

System of a Down – Sugar Lyrics 21 years ago
I'm in the middle here, I think that Sugar is about Coke, but then there's a bunch of stuff in the song/video that means it could be about an mentally insane guy. who knows, but me, i'm stuck between those 2.

Cypress Hill – How I Could Just Kill A Man Lyrics 21 years ago
Well, as the song's meaning is really obvious (check the title) all I've got to add is that as much ass as Rage's version kicks, Cypress's is exponentially better.

Slipknot – Opium of the People Lyrics 21 years ago
I've narrowed the song down to 2 possible meanings, I think it's either about a drug dealer (opium) who gets arrested just as he realizes what he's doing is wrong, or its about Marx's phrase "religion is the opium of the people".
PS- This song kicks ass
PPS- It's not "you have to stop; stop" its "stopx4"

KoЯn – Blind Lyrics 21 years ago
before i get to how good this song is, i'd like to thank everyone that says KoRn sucks for contributing so much to this message board, we all really apreciate your input. As i'm guessing you guys (only these korn haters) are all too stupid to realize that i'm being sarcastic, i'll say it outright "i'm being sar-fucking-castic". Now that that's been covered, yes this is probably my favorite KoRn song and if it's not only Y'all Want a Single beats it. But anyway, after thinkin about it, this song seems to be about how drugs blind you to the world around you because they control your life.
PS- just because we like KoRn doesn't mean we're depressed or goths, dammit.
