The Beauty of Kurt Cobains lyrics IMO is many of his songs are so deep in lyrical meaning and yet many arent very deep at all. They are what they are, but they usually turned out pretty darn good and can strike a cord with a great deal of people. We may never truly know what the meaning of this song is about, but its brilliance is in that is is vague enough that it could cover a wide range of things in Kurts life. Most of this song is a mystery, but when he says the line, What else should I say Everyone is gay it is definately not Kurt talking about being happy or talking about Homosexuals. He is just saying everyone sucks(and that is not intended as a pun) |

| Johnny Cash – Hurt (Nine Inch Nails cover) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| When the great Johnny Cash sang a song it became his own. Hurt was a decent song when sang by NIN, but was a masterpiece when covered by the man in black. Its no longer a NIN song, its a Cash song. The man could put more emotion and feeling into a song than an Army of NIN could ever hope to accomplish. Johnny Cash is the song, NIN simply sang about it. | |

This song, like many other great songs has a double meaning. At first glance the lyrics may seem very simplistic and are merely telling the story of 3 rugged men who met their untimely deaths by doing great and powerful things, and the determinination and continuity and power of the human spirit to endure. This also speaks to the great mystery of what lies across the greay veil of death. Death is not the end but the beginning of another journey. Everything in the universe is made of energy and that energy can never be destroyed, it can only change forms. "Ill be back again and again and again and again and again." |

| Sting – Why Should I Cry For You? Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I dont really think that this song is about a lover dying because of the references. Why shoud I cry for you, and especially when he says loved you in my fashion. To me that means he was rejected. | |

Well that isnt a bad guess. The song is about sailing and its not. If you take it literally it could mean that because of a lost love hes taken to the lonely life as a sailor to kill the pain. What I think the song is about is hurting from a lost love, and the sailing reference is a brilliant use of words to denote lonlieness and struggle. The Dog Star or Sirius is the brightest star in the Northern Hemisphere, and was often used in navigation. Many Sailors coined a term "Chasing the Dog Star" as meaning to navigate by means of Sirius. Chasing the Dog Star can also mean chasing an unattainable goal. Sting could be referencing this as it being impossible to get rid of his hurt, though he tries with all his might. "North Northwest the Stones of Faroe, is a direct reference to the Faroe Islands in the North Atlantic, but once again it would seem that sting is referencing lonliness like he is in general with the Ocean, and possibly desolation, since the Faroes are a very out of the way desolate place. The other sailing references "hauling on frozen ropes for all my days remaining" is another metaphor meaning an unpleasant struggle that he cant ever see himself completing. "All colors bleed to red Asleep on the ocean's bed Drifting in empty seas For all my days remaining" This is another reference to lonlieness and pain. Sting could be saying that when everything bleeds to red, everything is becoming a blur, and that it leaves him numb and hence "asleep" or just going through the motions, drifting in his lonliness forever. But would north be true? Why should I? Why should I cry for you? Dark angels follow me Over a godless sea Mountains of endless falling, For all my days remaining, This next part Sting is saying to himself If I had done things differently could things have been different. Then he is expressing emotions of possibly anger, by saying why should I cry for you, when you rejected me? Possibly even a little bit of depair, as in saying what is the point of it all. He is haunted by these Demons "Dark Angels" and he may even be feeling like God is against him, or at least the fates. He is a lost man for eternity. "Sometimes I see your face, The stars seem to lose their place Why must I think of you? Why must I? Why should I? Why should I cry for you? Why would you want me to? And what would it mean to say, That, I loved you in my fashion"? Sting is saying that the memories are so painful, and that his love is so great for them that nothing else matters. He then goes on to ask himself why he has to torture himself like this, especially when they have moved on with their life. Finally he is saying I loved you the best way I knew how, why wasnt that good enough? This is one of my favorite songs from Sting. I think the lyrics and dreamy music mix perfectly to make a hauntingly brilliant song, guaranteed to hit anyone in the gut who has really experienced a trully heartbreaking end to a romance. |

It seems to me that the more I hear this song and read the lyrics it is about the death of a loved one. To me it seems to reprent all the residual emotions and energy that exist after someone dies. One minute they are there, and the next minute they arent, but you are left with all the memories, and its too much to take. Sometimes you wish that it would all just go away, but at the same time you cant let go. For me it also has its own special meaning. This song always pulls on my heart strings, because it represents the love that I lost when I was younger. Ive literally been haunted by her face in my dreams, and it seems that time never completely erases the feeling of loss I have for her. I can completely relate to the line "but if you have to leave i wish that you would just leave cause your prescence still lingers here and it won't leave me alone" There are thousands of times that I have wished justed to be able to forget everything about her, because the memories eat at you until you almost cant take it. There is another line that I connect closely to "your voice, it's chased away all the sanity in me " When she was in the hospital and I was at her bedside, her last words to me were "No matter what I will always love you". Oh my God! That was a dagger in the heart, because It was like my soul was being ripped out. Its like how on earth do you even begin to go on when the love of your life has just died in your arms. Then later on you feel guilty! You feel guilty for going on with your life, for thinking about loving someone else. Its a hard thing. |
