I'm not claiming to absolutely know what this song is about, but here's a wild guess: a random, trashy girl has sex with a man living a shit hole of a home with his family. She's insignificant, it seems, and their reltionship is purely sex out of desperation. I imagine he's older and disgusting and she's this 'bright, bubbly thing'. Totally agreeing with JeremyB1 - that's easy to figure out. He 'feeds' his ego but it ends up disposing of whatever positive notions he had of himself. This song is very melodic (which is to be expected of Cursive) and reminds me of the novel "The Time Traveler's Wife". It's desperate, lonely, and inquisitive. The Ugly Organ seems to be about Tim's relationships - random women, one-night stands, his 'latest' whore, his wife. You can understand how desperate and lonely he probably feels - lets hope he just doesn't end up like Elliot Smith. |
