Art is what you make it to be right? That being said, to me this song asks the burning questions about death. It's like he's talking to someone who has died. Are you in space? Are you with ghosts who shed their creaking hosts? And even though we all go somewhere, or to oblivion, the earth keeps going with the trees returning to soil for the next generation. Probably way off the mark but to me it's not and that is art...and what a great artist Linkous is.
I just Love this song! |

I believe that this song is about touring on the road and leaving his wife behind. "I set the sun on a big wheeled wagon"(bus) Also the longer the tour, the longer the hair. When he folds the cold in his jet lagged palms and has soacked so long he forgets his mother to me means that he has abused his body with to much drugs, booze, sleep deprivation or all the above that he is in that complete fog state. Maybe I am wrong, but I believe the whole album is about a tour where he goes to far and has problems with his wife. The album sounds very personal and autobiographical to me. |

This song is about a guy that goes to an old flames wedding. She is still in love with him but must have dicked him over at some point. When she looks in the wedding book for his signature she couldn't find it. He signed "Nobady" . "That you're still in love with nobody and I used to be nobody"... But not anymore.
Can you say one of the best songwriters of all time? |

To me it's about a guy who takes the bus every day and eyes a girls he wants to meet who takes the skyway every day. He finally gets the courage to meet her but when he takes the skyway, he looks down and sees her taking the bus. A love not meant to be. Prabably my top five songs of all time. |
