Nickelback – I Don't Have Lyrics 19 years ago
It sounds like he's ready to just give up after a bad breakup. "Gone away" "I don't have anything" suggests that he doesn't have anything to keep him going anymore. "I don't hide in sanctity" means that he won't hide in the church anymore. "I don't need the space to breathe" he's referring to the space that she used to take up in his life. I don't need the space to breathe. But then that would mean that he's learned not to need the space where she used to be. Maybe he's left emptyhanded but learning to cope with it.

Matchbox Twenty – Real World Lyrics 19 years ago
SmileyJeff is totally right. I think that's the most adequate explanation I've heard of the song. I think it may also be about (this is just a theory) a "geek" in high school and he wants to be someone else to show them how he really is and have people accep him for who he is. I don't know. SmileyJeff's explanation was the best.

Matchbox Twenty – Hand Me Down Lyrics 19 years ago
I think it's about a guy whose liked this girl for some time and he stands by, not able to talk to her, but watching her get hurt in all of these dead end relationships. Hence, "You're just one more hand me down" because she's passed down from man to man. Then this guy decides to tell her that he'll care for her and "maker her love again". A very beautiful song, with well written lyrics.

Matchbox Twenty – Bent Lyrics 19 years ago
First off, I ABSOLUTELY ADORE AND LOVE AND AM OBSESSED WITH MATCHBOX TWENTY!!!!!!!! They ROCK!!!! But I heard from my mom that back in her day, bent meant fucked. She said they would say bent instead of the actual word so the teachers wouldn't know what they were talking about. My friend thinks that this song is about sex. "Start bending me...it's never enough...till I feel all your pieces...start bending me...keep bending me...until I'm completely broken in" But I don't think that. I think that he had a messed up life and someone came along who Rob was able to depend on to "pick him up and dust him off" if he fell along the way.

Matchbox Twenty – Crutch Lyrics 19 years ago
That would sound plausible if one hadn't heard the lyrics before hand. It doesn't make sense. Why would he say "Man I feel like hell so come on over be a love machine and I could be your friend" if he was talking about old band members? I think it's about a guy who's in a relationship with a girl, but all he wants out of it is the sex. "Be a love machine and I could be your friend." But on the other side, she's serious about the relationship, hence "I don't wanna be the crutch" I don't wanna be the one that you stand on for support, I just want you for one thing.

Matchbox Twenty – Push Lyrics 19 years ago
You are all fucking stupid!!!!! How dare you even think that Rob Thomas would write something a song as shallow as about masturbation or sex or something stupid like that. I read an interview on the internet...this song is about emotional abuse that a guy recieves from a girl, and I wanna push you around has nothing to do with physical abuse from the guy to the girl. Rob said that he was pissed that feminists were saying that this song was about abuse to a woman, obviously they, and people like you, don't listen to the lyrics closely enough, and are completely oblivious to the fact that today's world, while materialistic, is not just about sex and masturbation. Watching VH1, everyone thinks that today's great songs, like Push for example, are about masturbation. Use your head you dumbass. Obviously you have masturbated yourself one too many times and are able to turn lyrics that mean one thing entirely into something totally different. Next time you open your mouth make sure something intelligent comes out of it and not shit.

Matchbox Twenty – Million Miles Lyrics 19 years ago
I think this song means that this guy wants a girl who doesn't want him back. The line "Can we walk the streets at the same time, I don't mind" could mean that can we please talk? I promise no one will find out and ruin your reputation by being seen with me. "These are the clothes that I wear" means that this is how I am, please accept me for it. "And this is the only thing I wanted more than anything" means that even though this girl doesn't return his love, he'll do anything, because her love is what he wants more than anything. "I crave for the little conversation, the way you toss your hair back" means that he craves for the few times that she talks to him and he longs to see her and have her talk to him. Then, the line "You're beautiful, and it suits me fine" means that he's just content to sit back and look at her and maybe not be able to have her after all. "These are the days that make up the lifetimes" I think means that what she does to him on all of these days makes up his entire lifetime, and those lifetimes make up generations, and so on.

Nickelback – Where? Lyrics 19 years ago
Almost got it, Russian Leprechaun, but not quite. Yes, he did love this girl, but she loved him back at least for a while. Then she starts having second thoughts, and he says, here I stand, here I am, saying that he knows how he feels. "So where the hell are you?" doesn't literally mean that he's wondering where she is...he's saying I know where I stand in this relationship, now where do you stand? Finally, sick of holding on to false hopes, he says, I'm tired of needing you, and he decides to move on.

Nickelback – See You At The Show Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is basically about a band who picks up prostitutes and does drugs. "Light it up till we burn it down" and "Party scenes and bimbo dreams" Basically, they think that since they're living the high life, they don't have to take their career seriously. They're thinking "Hey, we're popular, let's party!" So they go out to parties, get drunk, do drugs, and hang out with "ladies of the night". "Light it up till we burn it down" basically meanst that they're going to keep lighting that match and smokin that weed until they burn it down, or get caught, or ruin their career. They're going to keep going until the very end.

Nickelback – Hangnail Lyrics 19 years ago
It does sound to me like this is about a friend who has a drug problem, but I also think that he is the one who got his friend started on it, or vice versa. "My hopes just fell...and I can't see...the reason why...why there is blood on my sleeve...and all this time, I thought it mine, but it's not it's yours" And although this guy is doing drugs, he must be making some money or living the high life. "This life you lead, like swimming in a shiny ballroom." But obviously, this guy's been stealing from his friend, after he tried to help him with his problem. "This label 'thief' find a better title suited for you". Also, "this title wave, is coming down upon you" this easy life this guy's been living, is about to go down the drain "this life you leave like SWIMMING in a shiny ballroom" and he's about to send this guy packing "just pack your shit and leave with it".

Led Zeppelin – Black Dog Lyrics 19 years ago
Never saw the BK commercial. Sad...why don't they use a teletubbies song or something? Led Zeppelin rocks! Yes, I think their song is about sex, and yes, I had also heard that they guy who wrote it (sorry, can't remember who) named it after a black dog running around the studio. A title that has absolutely nothing to do with the song. I heard somewhere that Led Zeppelin named their band Led Zeppelin because they thought their album would go over like a lead balloon. Led Zeppelin. Who knows, who cares. All I need to know is that they rock!!!!!

Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven Lyrics 19 years ago
First of all, you stupid freaks, this world is NOT about movies!! It is about literature as well. Although the Lord of the Rings movies were not out at the time the song was written, the books were you fucking idiots!! Obviously there are a bunch of shit for brains people on this website. Stairway to Heaven is a beautiful song, regardless of meaning. The meaning of the song is irrelevant; all that matters is that we like it, right? And is undisputably one of the best written songs of all time, whether or not it had to do with drugs, LOTR, or all of the above. I don't care if the people who wrote this song were high on drugs or had a high IQ the song is awesome!! It has such beautiful lyrics. I just had to write this comment to let fucker know back at the top of this page that although the LOTR movies were not around at this time, I am 99.9% sure that the books were!!

Nickelback – Hold Out Your Hand Lyrics 19 years ago
This song is from the album The State. It is about the Holocaust, and no, I don't think they mean anything bad about it. In fact, they're trying to convey how horrible it was. A history lesson through songwriting. Interesting. I have been to the Holocaust museum in Washington, D.C., and there is a sign that they put at the entrance to the concentration camps, and yes, it did say "Hard work will set you free". I walked under one of the actual signs. Kinda creepy. Also, the stars upon the chest, as MattG3169 mentioned, is in fact the Stars of David the Jews were required to wear. "Hold out your hand and ask for some" seems like a confusing lyric. Should these people who were murdered should have held out their hands and ask for something? But what? I think it was freedom. "Small child receives light through the crack" I think is a child hiding from the Nazis as they are being sent to the death chambers. "A human mile, ain't never coming back". Actually, and this is absolutely horrible, the Nazis would have holes with glass or something over them on top of the death/gas chambers where they could watch these innocent people die. The Holocaust museum was amazing; if you ever get the chance you should visit it. I used to be a Jehovah's Witness, and they were also persecuted during the Holocaust because their religion states that they can't go to war. It wasn't just them...people were also killed just because of their sexual status, or just because they didn't have "the look". If you don't believe me, look it up. Also, I read somewhere, and this may not be correct, that the Jehovah's Witnesses could be set free if they denounced their faith, and not one did. Anyway, I didn't write this to give you a history lesson, but I don't think my interpretation of the song was very accurate. Oh well...I hope someday someone will come to this page besides me and translate some of the more confusing lyrics.

Nickelback – Fly Lyrics 19 years ago
Sounds like this guy's had a pretty messed up childhood. Don't get me wrong, I love nickelback. He asks his dad "Where do bad men go when they die" because "mother says that you'll go there but wings for her and I and I don't mind" Obviously his mother's put it into his head that his dad is going to hell and they're going to heaven. And this kid doesn't mind cuz he's always wanted to learn to fly...to get away from his dad. Second verse: His troubled childhood turns into troubled teen years. His older brother's got drugs "If I take this am I going to die" his brother says no, so he takes it. Cuz he's finally realizing that it's his life, so light the match and he'll learn to fly...to, once again, get away from his dad. The third verse: the father's telling his son that it's not his gun and bloody hands don't hide behind locked doors. But in dresser drawers, those bullets wait to fly...to get him away from his dad. Either to kill his dad or himself, not sure. But at the same time he's plotting to kill his dad, he's having these thoughts that tell him it's not right. "I'm on my hands and knees I've crawled eternity to beg forgiveness someday I'll be there I swear to you, God, as my witness, for all the trusts I've broke let justice know, it's just that easy, cuz I'm a liar, I've conspired, I'm a liar." Talking about how easy it is to get around the law...maybe he already killed his dad, but is having problems coping, so is promising that he'll be there, God as his witness. Any of this making sense??

Nickelback – Feelin' Way Too Damn Good Lyrics 19 years ago
It sounds like this guy misses his ex and begs her to at least come and see. Well, one thing leads to another, and, "for 48 hours I don't think we ever left the hotel room". "This time it's like the two of us should probably start to fight" Sounds to me like this guy and this girl broke up once before but got back together, and things worked out this time, for now..."Looking back each time they tried to tell me" His friends and family are warning him that it's not going to last, but they go at it again. Don't know, could be wrong.

Nickelback – Because Of You Lyrics 19 years ago
Usually I'm pretty good at translating songs (about my only strong point) but this one confuses the hell out of me. At one point he's talking about how he won't stand around and watch her die, but then he's saying "now that you're bleeding you stare at the ceiling watch as it all fades away...from what you do, because of you". The last seven words seem to say it's her fault. I talked to my brother who listens to this song all of the time and he said that the line goes "You laugh as you lie through your teeth" which seems to make more sense. Then there's the part that goes, "Now that you did this you ask for forgiveness, doctor could you be my priest, you say you're mistaken but look what you've taken you laugh as you lie through your teeth". Maybe means that now that she's dying she wants to be forgiven? She has a secret, but she's not telling. "You laugh as you lie through your teeth". Maybe she made it look like she was attacked and it was really her attempting suicide? Or maybe I'm just looking too deep into this? I don't know...this is the first song I haven't been able to give an adequate meaning for.

Nickelback – Curb Lyrics 19 years ago
I had absolutely no idea what that song meant until now. You are all right...Chad is an excellent song writer. He can take the place of someone so easily and turn their tragic past into a helluva good song. I love nickelback, and if you love that kind of songwriting, you should check out matchbox twenty. Rob Thomas (the lead singer) writes all of the songs, and he does a damn good job, also. It's amazing; he writes about his own past in a lot of his songs. I read an interview, that he used to live in a trailer with his mom, and he writes a lot about his past relationships. One song (3am, check it out) is about his mom fighting cancer when he was 14. He also sings with such passion and emotion, more so on his earlier CDs. But anyway, this is about nickelback. I had always liked to listen to that song, and, now that I know the meaning, I'll probably start bawling the next time I hear it. Awesome song! Chad's lyrics seem so simple and easy to translate and then you look deeper into it holds so much meaning! Can't wait till their next CD! (Or matchbox twenty's!) check them out, their not as rock, but just as good! :) I can't pick my favorite, they're both awesome!

Nickelback – Money Bought Lyrics 19 years ago
I have two theories about this song. First: I think this song is about a girl who seems popular and trendy and rich but in reality all she has is her money from mom and dad to "keep her company". You know, like the bitch at everyone's average high school. She has money, has her posse, seems to have everything, but she doesn't work for what she has. Basically, her money keeps her company, and it comes straight from mom and daddy. That's my first theory. My second is that this girl is a prostitute, "shaking hands, nice to meet you, I don't know who you are" and when business gets slow she gets money from mom and dad. So this guy, um, you know, "buys her for the night" and, basically, "look what you're money bought, it's all that she's got, it keeps her company". She's a prostitute, she's not looking for love, she's looking for money.

Nickelback – Window Shopper Lyrics 19 years ago
This song basically means that this girl goes around and picks guys up for the way they look and keeps them until she gets sick of them and what they gave her. She's a "window shopper", she picks people out to date. "I guess I had it coming...my fault for not running...I just dressed too tempting...cuz your head's fucking empty"

Nickelback – Figured You Out Lyrics 19 years ago
Anyone who doesn't like nickelback, why the hell are you even on this page??!! You suck!!!!!!!!!!! Nickelback rocks! They're one of the precious few bands now who actually write their own songs, play their own instruments, and don't lip synch (*cough* Ashlee Simpson *cough*) Their lyrics actually mean something. Anyway get on a band's site that you like and talk about how good you think they are. What do all you good music haters do for a living? Where you have time to write in about how much you hate a band? Get a life! Do you just go to all of the bands pages that you hate and write comments just to piss people off? Frick off!

Matchbox Twenty – Jesus Was An Alien Lyrics 19 years ago
First off, I love matchbox twenty. I heard of Tabitha's Secret while searching for mb20 stuff on the net. I purchased the CD, and found it to have the same style, but the lyrics were a tad different. This song, for example, and it just so happens that this is one of my favorite on the CD. Personally, I believe that Rob Thomas (what a hunk) is downing religion. Specifically the ones that have people on the TV trying to get citizens to send their money to the specific church group. Hence, "Girl, I love you when the check is in the mail...found religion inside myself, I drank the blood, the flesh was stale...reach in your pockets and give us all you can...know the one that's going to heaven is gonna be the richer man". Almost as if he's saying that the more a person gives to the church, he/she increases their chance of getting to heaven. Also, the lyrics "I see you shaking boy do you find it hard to believe...that the one you been living for would cut your wrists to watch you bleed...say that the truth is a lie said it makes you feel unwell...I say the church of the almighty dollar is all we have to save us from hell" mean that maybe this song is about someone who was at first decieved by the church's ploy to get money, and then realized what was going on, but still refuses to believe it. "Say that the truth is a lie said it makes you fell unwell...say the church of the almighty dollar is all we have to save us from hell." A very interesting song...one of the deepest lyrics I've heard from tabitha's secret or matchbox twenty. As for "jesus was an alien flying through space, god was an astronaut who said boy I like your face so the story began" might be conveying the absurdity of religion. Don't you people start sending me angry comments saying I am against Christianity, because I'm not. I respect all of the world's religions; I'm just giving my input as to the meaning of the song. Sorry this was kinda long.
