I am loving this song. Kinda lost the whole new wave synth sound (which I liked) and come out with a more alt rock anthem sound. More guitar driven, and I like that.

I agree with Joekubrick on this. I think the song is about someone who has sold himself out just to be popular, only to realize that popularaty is an illusionand he is ultamatly left lonley.
However this song (like most radiohead songs) can mean a lot of differant things. I do like the daredevil theory but i think that might be taking the lines too literaly, Thom does use a lot of metaphors in his songs so I think the bike may just be a metaphor. But open to a lot of interpatation. |

I think this song has an irony to it as well. A lot of the baby boomers who protested against conservative goverments are now becomeing so conservative and living is houses that all look the same and listening to music that they were listening to 40 years ago and become the concervative enemy that the protested against so fiecly. |

This album is a concept album about technology and the icolation it causes it is about how conservative sociaty (and the goverment) is becoming. This song in paticular is about conservatvness and how strange people are to "lock up their spirits" "Drill holes in themselves and live for their secrets"
Thom said in an interveiw that he got the idea for the song when he was in school and the teacher asked the class to picture the world as if they were aliens and they were seeing it for the first time and did not understand why people were doing the things they were doing. |
