| Rasputina – Sweet Water Kill (The Ocean Song) Lyrics

This is a beautiful piece. One of my favorite Rasputina songs. It makes me think of mermaids luring some beautiful sailor or pirate from a boat and down into the sea. I've read a lot of stories about mermaids being able to drag whole ships to the ocean floor with their songs. |

I love travelling songs, songs that talk about packing up and leaving the life you have now. When David Bowie sings songs like these. . .well! My excitement just knows no bounds. |

BEST BAD MOOD SONG EVER. Especially for those who feel hatred towards somebody but know that it's harmful to hate. |

| David Bowie – Sweet Thing Lyrics

I love this song. I love the chorus, especially the last line, and the imagery of the first verse. It goes with the whole post apocolyptic image of "Diamond Dogs." I honestly think it's one of his more successful songs, in terms of pacing and style.
Er, as to what it means, I have no idea. Something grungy and weird and feral in a city somewhere. But I love it!
Mostly because it's absolutely AMAZING live. |

Beautiful vocals, lovely, lovely song. A little radiohead-esque, but with Steven Wilson's own touch.
That said, I have no idea what it means. For some reason I think of this as the sequel to Trains. Probably the mention of summers and valleys, and it's like that song sonically as well. Anybody else? |

| Scissor Sisters – Lovers In The Backseat Lyrics

I love this song. It's so sexy. Just a wild guess, but is it about a taxi driver? That's what part of it sounds like, just with the reference to someone being a driver and driving two people somewhere. But I'm not sure. |

| Cranes – Paris and Rome Lyrics

Cranes always turns out high quality alternative music, but this is a beautiful and haunting song even among their stellar selection. The lyrics are simple and easy to interpret but the music itself carries a lot of weight. It's a shame more people don't know about this group. |

| Modest Mouse – Bukowski Lyrics

Anyway, back to the SONG MEANING. My favorite part of the song is actually the bridge, or:
"Well all that icing and all that cake
I can't make it to your wedding but I'm sure I'll be at your wake
You were talk talk talkin' in circles that day
When you get to the point make sure that I'm still awake, okay?"
It gets back to the whole death theme, trying to find meaning in life before it's over, and not really giving a shit anyway. Christianity doesn't make sense because it is a very human religion, and I think this is what he's implying. Humanity doesn't make sense either! |

for me, personally, I love the line: Show me how to button the buttons that have forgotten they're buttons. Well we can't have that forgetting that. I mean just READ it! |
