Friggin Wicked!!! As a drummer, this song is another reason why Carter Beauford is my hero... and I could totally see this song being written written just for him! No offence to anyone, I couldn't care less what this particular song means because the drumming is out of this world! And yes Carter is the greatest drummer alive. Hands down.
As someone at the end of the song so accurately puts it: "That is bad shit!" |

Great song! And yes, Carter totally rocks my socks, and this song is another amazing example of his capabilities!! This may not be one of the hardest or most complicated songs he plays but I think it's one the best written.
And a second thing, I love the people in the background that "nickptar" talked about, and I agree. I also think they add to the "feel good" mood of the song because they really do sound like they are enjoying themselves. |

I'm pretty sure the guy before me is the first one to actually try to point out what this song is about, although I don't totally agree. I think mostly the song is just fun and its nice to dream sometimes... but if you really had to say what the meaning of the song is you could say its looking at poverty... but I think that's stretching it.
This song is the essence of BNL - comic, clever, and catchy! One of the Ladies' classics forever! |

Just a little clarification: it should be "GO Train" which stands for Government of Ontario Train which are the trains that go between cities in Southern Ontario (I live there). I think duckadooz is probably on the right track with the whole watching life go by idea; the GO Train part is probably just a reference to something Steven saw often growing up or something... they're pretty common in Ontario... |

Sir Larrikin - I'm impressed, very nicely done. I just want to add that I love this song, and musically I think it is possibly their greatest ever! |

Not so sure about the Christ reference... definitely a sad but beautiful song that I think takes a very accurate look at what goes through the head of somone who wants to commit suicide... |

I think this song is about someone who always thought that they would be a better person when they got older. Now that they are older, they are not the person they thought they would be. Their regret about this is very apparent.
"so you run through the hallways/and you run through the doors/and it's gotten you nothing/back where you were before" - they try to escape from being this person they become but they always end up the same anyway.
"you've been waiting for someone who never ever came " - the "someone" is the person they hoped to be. Instead of trying to become this person, they simply waited for it to happen but obviously it didn't. There are plenty more examples, but if you agree with me then I'm sure you can figure them out for yourselves. Peace. |
