Depeche Mode – Stripped Lyrics 16 years ago
Stripped is DM's most beautiful song. I can't believe 1/3 of the people on this page are talking about how they like some cover better... "Rammstein's version of Stripped is better because it's funny!"

This song is amazing the way it sets a mood. You actually feel like you're there having meaningless sex that leaves you feeling empty inside.

Nine Inch Nails – Letting You Lyrics 16 years ago
"I recently ratted out a kid for doing drugs in the middle of recess."

Wow, what a narc. I don't take "drugs" but I understand that the laws are ruining peoples' lives. The USA is the biggest jailor in the world and the majority of these people are in prison for drug-related offenses. We actually have mandatory sentences for victimless crimes such as posession of marijuana. I bet you narced that guy out just for smoking weed.

Depeche Mode – The Things You Said Lyrics 16 years ago
I can't believe there is only one other comment on this utterly brilliant song. It's so restrained and yet intense with beautiful melodies and lyrics.

Nine Inch Nails – Starfuckers, Inc. Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is such a kickass musical flip-off. The reason why it doesn't sound like any other Trent song is because it's a Charlie Clouser song. I hope to see them work together again someday... The Fragile is the best album ever!!

New Order – True Faith Lyrics 17 years ago
I find that this song has highly depressing undertones. The subject, possibly Bernard, has lived a life full of fear and emotional pain. The following lines seem to support this assumption-

"I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see the light in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost replaced by fear"

"A sudden sense of liberty"

This person has lived in a prison of his own fears and has discovered a drug that finally makes him feel free and OK for the first time in his life. It could be ecstasy, but that's not the big picture. However, these lines make me think ecstasy:

"I feel so extraordinary
Something's got a hold on me
I've got this feeling I'm in motion
A sudden sense of liberty"

Not only does taking ecstasy makes you feel euphoric, but it makes you feel like you're in motion, which is why people refer to the experience as "rolling". It gives you a feeling of emotional freedom and was used for psychotheraputic purposes before it was made illegal.

"Again and again I've taken too much
Of the thing that costs you too much"

Clearly these lines can be interpreted to mean drug use. Bernard Sumner has said in interviews that this song is about drug use, and the lyric "Now that we've grown up together
They're afraid of what they see" was originally, "Now that we've grown up together
They're all taking drugs with me". This doesn't really change the meaning of the song though, it only serves to make it more subtle. These "boys" are in that prison of fear and they're using drugs in an effort to make themselves feel OK.

Glassjaw – Two Tabs of Mescaline Lyrics 19 years ago
sorry guys but i think you're all wrong... sort of. this song is about daryl's personal idol ray cappo selling out. as many of you already know, daryl was straight edge since he was like 12 years old and ray was straight edge too so he really looked up to the guy. anyway, ray cappo "sold out" when he broke his edge by drinking. this is what the "sailor scent" stuff is a reference to. daryl was really pissed off because he thought that action went against everything they worked for in the straight edge scene and he was cheapening the whole thing, and i guess his life lost a lot of meaning. daryl gave up straight edge not too long after and now smokes weed. (not that there's anything wrong with that) if you want proof, read this interview http://www.modernfix.com/features/40/ha.htm
