Dimmu Borgir – Progenies Of The Great Apocalypse Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Hi, Sister. I'm neither fish nor fowl (christian/satanist) but I think I can explain things a bit, at least from the Christian point of view. The Christians believe that Jesus Christ is the Messiah, the savior sent by God to serve as the "ultimate sacrifice". They also (most of them) believe that he promised to return to Earth at a later time as sovreign. However, the forces of Satan will overpower the Earth first. I have to say, Sielense, that they also believe that the final and eternal reign of the Christ will be earthly, in the sense that the Earth will be destroyed and replaced with a spiritual one, as far as I understand. So yes, the afterlife is the most important thing; however, it'll also be the *only* thing after the Armageddon (a.k.a., Apocalypse). Hope that helps. I had to respond after seeing your unanswered plea =] |
Oceanlab – Satellite (Vocals by Justine Suissa) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Even through the shroud of drugs, there's meaning. I would assume you're the "fool" you were referring to? I just think it's a cool song, and heartfelt. |
The Jimi Hendrix Experience – May This Be Love Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Shut the "eff" up, man. Did you even read any of my post other than the part about drugs? I doubt it. He obviously *was* falling, and if you can't see that, you're self-blinded. "That's beyond the point" huh? Then why don't you say what the freakin' point is? Or would you prefer to insult my comments? You might notice I ***DID*** say what I thought the point was. The drugs bit *WASN'T* the point of my post. Sorry about the tone of that post, but I just can't stand idiotic BS. It's getting late, peace. |

The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Bold As Love Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Any experience changes you for life, and I'd argue that an acid trip isn't a positive one, even if it feels good, or makes you think you've gained some insight. It is however a profound experience, obviously (not talking from personal exp. here, don't dis me for it.) So it changes you for good negatively. P.S. I wrote that other post a while ago, before I started researching online accounts of acid et al. I probably wouldn't have said the same thing now. However, Jimi did take wayyyy too much, and had psychological problems...so...yeah. Good point. =P |

Um, my bad. He wasn't in Nam, I was being stupid when I posted that earlier. He was, however, in the U.S. Army Airborne. I think. Maybe in Korea? |
The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Purple Haze Lyrics | 19 years ago |
OK, ***OK***, I think we all get the idea that some people think this song is about "a dream Jimi had where he was walking underwater." Let's read the other posts, and then we won't make inane double posts. Hmmkay? Now THINK, guys - there's nothing even remotely underwater about this song. That just doesn't make sense. The sound, the lyrics, nothing. Maybe he was inspired by the dream. But don't say "it's not about drugs!" If you pay any attention to the sound and the lyrics, it's pretty f*ckin OBVIOUS. It's not just a "possibility." And I don't think the surface of the ocean looks purple from underneath. Not from what I've seen of it anyway. It's about a messed up, confused guy - himself. Also, just because "Purple Haze" is the name of a modern pot variety, it doesn't mean that this song is about the marijuana at all! Mushie, they didn't even have that shit back then, or at least not available to anyone other than 2 chemists in Tajikistan or something. Again, I really recommend reading other peoples' posts...and sorry for the harsh tone to this post, I'm just fed up and tired. Peace. |

Serf music? lmao *quotes Monty Python:* Help, help! I'm being repressed!....uh, no |
Blink-182 – Adam's Song Lyrics | 19 years ago |
/me mumbles "...lame..." I know you're all gonna hate me for this, but here goes. The sound is almost exactly like all their other crap. The lyrics don't fit with the stupid little happy "clean guitar" sound. Seems to me this song is all about a whiny loser who couldn't get laid, and then finally decides to end it all, just to show the world. "You'll be sorry when I'm gone." Sorry, but I won't be sorry. You want to listen to a depressing song? Try Last Resort. That's by Papa Roach, in case any of you emo wierdos were wondering. Now excuse me, but I have to go cry on my mommy's shoulder...oops, I was channeling the spirit of one of those retards who killed themselves while listening to this song. Now, it's late and I'm getting bitchy (in case you haven't noticed ;). Peace. |
Kelis – Milkshake Lyrics | 19 years ago |
P.S. Trick Me is sooooo much better, but for some reason it has no comments.... You can't even say that the meaning of this song is somehow "meaningful because sex appeal really is like a milkshake, a wonderful blend of mixed ingredients blah blah blah..." The only meaning of this song is "HEY GUESS WHAT IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW I'M THE UBERHO", I doubt the author even thought about that milkshake analogy. Let me say again: LAME. |
Kelis – Milkshake Lyrics | 19 years ago |

U2 – Pride (In the Name of Love) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I disagree with NavySkow. I don't think you can interpret a seperate meaning for each line and still have a very deep meaning to the song. It seems apparent to me that the first verse is mainly about Jesus, not just one line of it. joeso87 and firthelement made good arguments for that. The "betrayed with a kiss" part is not some random reference to "erstwhile lovers"...rather, it was the signal agreed upon by Judas and the high priests to pick Jesus out of the crowd - Judas arrived on the scene, went to Jesus, and gave him a kiss of friendship (a kiss doesn't necessarily mean "lovers", Azzathoth.) I think the Jesus meaning is equally as obvious as the MLK meaning. You can also apply it to any number of people who've struggled In The Name Of Love. I'm not trying to rehash the whole argument, merely to sort out the different ideas. I liked the point about the Allied soldiers at Normandy, too, grandle. |
O-Zone – Dragostea Din Tei Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song ROCKS. Anyone who claims it is gay, just go to www.haiducii.net, and you will be PROVEN WRONG. This is the woman who sings in the original version of the song, which is NOT the "numa numa dance" version. SHE IS HOT AS HELL. Love under the linden trees reminds me of your eyes...love it...sigh...i want her lol =`( |
The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Little Wing Lyrics | 19 years ago |

The Jimi Hendrix Experience – All Along the Watchtower (Bob Dylan cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
God, why don't you two just shut the fuck up? More like "MR AND MS" extremely-small-penis...and I'm not even gonna specify which of you is which. By the way, crack is bad for you, just so y'all know. |

Jethro Tull – Locomotive Breath Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Dirty Vegas – Walk Into The Sun Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think this song is about feelings that come with some drugs... Ecstacy especially can allow for unhindered internal self-examination, and I think he's saying that he realizes that he's been "feeding his mind" when he should be feeding his heart - "I notice something missing...it's you I can't replace." This means to me that he's missing a woman and trying to fill the hole with drugs, maybe. "I start a brand new day...I felt we'd be the same again..." - he's trying to move on from an addiction, but somewhere he knows he'll go back. I think this is also about how his love will help him escape the chains of addiction. But he thinks he'll never be able to go back, even though it seemed like "we'd be the same, again." Maybe this was a little incoherent but it's a start. |
Sting – Russians Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song is so heartfelt. You can really feel the menace of the Soviets. Even though the Cold War was a terrible threat to the world, and the Russians were perpetrators in escalating the tension a great deal of the time, I think Sting also wanted to point out that they, too, are human beings who want peace, and want a future for their country and their sons and daughters. I CAN'T BELIEVE I'M THE FIRST PERSON TO COMMENT ON THIS!!!! >_< |
Sting – Why Should I Cry For You? Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Not my favorite, musically, but the song and music are still touching. I wonder what it means? My first thought is that it's about a man who's sort of "exiled" himself to work on a fishing boat in the North Atlantic. Or maybe about the Flying Dutchman. Or maybe about Truth. It seems that he's left some loved one behind. |
Sting – Fragile Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I don't really understand this one part: "Perhaps this final act was meant To clinch a lifetime's argument That nothing comes from violence and nothing ever could For all those born beneath an angry star Lest we forget how fragile we are" Everything else seems pretty plain, though. The imagery of "Blood will flow when flesh and steel are one, Drying in the color of the evening sun...Tomorrow's rain will wash the stains away, but something in our minds will always stay" is just BRILLIANT. |
Sting – Wrapped Around Your Finger Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I like this song. It's about a man who's been screwed over by the woman he loves, when all of a sudden, he turns the tables on her. Payback's a bitch. |
Sting – Roxanne Lyrics | 19 years ago |
My friend told me about when he finally figured this song out. He was so disturbed, it was hilarious. |
Sting – They Dance Alone (Cueca Solo) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song is so sad. But I like that last line about Pinochet: "Can you think of your own mother dancin' with her invisible son?" In other words, "Watch it, mate. You'll get what's comin' to ya!" |
Sting – Every Breath You Take Lyrics | 19 years ago |
It's always made me think that it's about a daughter of his who has run away, or gone into some kind of bad relationship, or gone onto the streets or totally rejected him as a father or something. Of course, I don't actually know his history, so I guess it could be anything. Perhaps it's a tribute to fathers who have lost their daughters in some way. I don't know how you can say so definitively that it's about a stalker, Philly. |
Sting – Englishman In New York Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Damn, sorry about the double post. |
Sting – Englishman In New York Lyrics | 19 years ago |
The sound of this song is PERFECT. Like all of Sting's songs on the Fields of Gold album, the music itself intertwines with his lyrics so well that the mental imagery is almost visual. As to meaning, it seems to me that he's talking about what it truly means to be a man. "It takes a man to suffer ignorance and smile; Be yourself no matter what they say." But it's not all about "being different" or "marching to the beat of a different drum." It's more about being in control and at peace with yourself and the world. "Modesty, propriety can lead to notoriety; You could end up as the only one. Gentleness, sobriety are rare in this society... At night a candle's brighter than the sun" This means to me, "don't be afraid to be yourself," but also "don't be afraid to be courteous!" After all, one of the most conformist things in society seems to be "being tough." This song says that the TRUE way to be tough, or resilient, is to actually be gentlemanly. My favorite line: "Confront your enemies, avoid them when you can; a gentleman will walk but never run." That is, walk, don't RUN AWAY! Courage, gentleness, and individuality are the meanings of this song. |

Tone Loc – Funky Cold Medina Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song is just WIERD. I love the rhyme about the oscar meier wiener....XD This reminds me of that one 80's song about...errr..well i can't remember right now but it was really funny too! By the way, he doesn't call it an aphrodesiac, he says it's "better than" one. Stoopid 80's people, haha. |
Marilyn Manson – Sweet Dreams (Eurythmics cover) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Lol. Couldn'ta put it better than this, personally: by TruthSpeaker on 06-05-2004 @ 11:35:45 PM *marilyn manson voice* "sweet dreams are HELL made of this, who am i to DEATH HELL KILL disagree *does the weird eye thing* i traveled the world and the 666, i am watching you through a camera *snorts cocaine* |
Eurythmics – Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Yeah, this song rocks. It sounds to me like it's about drug use - the opening lines make me think that. Sweet dreams are made of this Who am I to disagree? I travel the world And the seven seas-- It also sounds reasonable that the second half could be about how people in relationships just want to screw you over, in one way or another. |

Europe – Carrie Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Wow. I just heard this song for the first time, and it is really intense. I think the meaning is clear...although I think the line about mind-reading bears further examination. I think he's saying that he can see a train wreck coming, that's just my opinion. The emotion in this song is overwhelming...wow...really sad. But he knows he has to leave her. |
Fleetwood Mac – Little Lies Lyrics | 19 years ago |
O_o ...yeah...ok. haha Anyway, this song is really cool. She sounds so saxy XD |

The Who – Baba O'Riley Lyrics | 19 years ago |
EGGPLANT!!!!!!!!1!!1!11!11oneeleven No...seriously....uhmm..it's about..planting. planting..eggs of, uh, barley. i mean, seeds. seeds of babaoriley...baboriley...babrley...barley! see?? Eggplant and Baba O'Riley are linked! See? A completely random thought can have meaning, inserted into it by someone who doesn't have much of a clue about its true meaning! Nah, actually, I agree with TaoAvatar20 (from the beginning.) That sounds like a reasonable meaning. I also agree with vipergt196 - who said this song is about having a pet armadillo. "Out here in the fields, I fight for my meals." Life as an armadillo can be hard, especially when you're a teenage one. "Get back into my living" means getting rolled up into your shell. All armadillos should get wasted once in a while. They should also have spiritual gurus and eat lots of eggplant and evict themselves from South Vietnam to the North Pole and use synthesizers named O'Riley on their gurus to turn them into eggplants. No, wait, they should use eggplants on their synthesizers to compose tunes about RANDOM BULLSH*T LIKE THIS XD |
Bruce Hornsby – The Way It Is Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This is truly an amazing song, I would say a classic. I think it's definitely a slam on poverty and especially racism...BUT, I also think it's accepting them as aspects of our culture that won't change, as terrible as they are. I think this shows maturity...utopia isn't anything that our human race can ever achieve. And I agree with you, OpinionHead. |

This song ROCKS. |
Muse – Time Is Running Out Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I'm not really sure why you guys think it's about a girl. I mean, if it is, this is one hell of a dark relationship. Listen to the sound of the song. This ain't love, people - even the author doesn't think so. Love and infatuation are generally happy, pleasant feelings, and if there is anger and disappointment, it's seperate from the love, obviously. "I think I'm drowning"..."this spell you've created"...and ESPECIALLY "you're something beautiful, a contradiction" lead me to think it's about drugs. Think about it. "Something". An inanimate object. "Beautiful" - how can a thing be beautiful? It's a contradiction, but he's obsessed about the stuff, so a dark part of his mind thinks it's beautiful. Now for the killer proof: I wanted freedom Bound and restricted I tried to give you up But I'm addicted Although I can see that being about a girl, if you look at the other parts of the song it's obvious that it's not. By the way, nelos angelinos, I think "IT" is the desire for the substance. Think about it for a little while. First, "I won't let go." Then, soon after, "You can't stop it screaming out." That's a pretty typical transition, I'm thinking. |
