Hm...these are good points. At first, I thought this was about the "beauty myth" since "I Dress Her Up She Knocks Me down" could mean that she feels inferior compared to the doll. |

I think the writer is taking the view point of a schizophrenic person who wanted to do some great things ("Against the law to talk about the, Rocket in the park I send it, Off to be examined by a, Scientific team"). But no one listens to her "I make no friends. I've got no spark, In my defense, I take apart " so she decides that she wants to destroy something and make what's in her mind a reality: "This is all true I'll make it be. " |

This song basically says that she loves what her boyfriend does to please her and doesn't want him to stop, but at the same time, she thinks he may be doing somethings wrong (and might be hurting her with all of the S+M/B+D stuff going on...kiiiinky ;D...) If she sees him like his "daddy" and she should be gone, she would try to leave him, but wouldn't be able to because she feels bound to him/addicted to him or the things that he does to her. She "loves and hates" him "it's so intense" but she would never be able to burn him because she's in too deep. |

| The Kidney Thieves – Pretty Lyrics

This song is pretty creepy. I looove it. :D. Anyway, I think this song is about a girl who is told she's pretty, so she starts to believe it "I'm pretty, what do I deserve?" Yet, she doesn't really feel all that pretty. It seems as though she has a significant other who is seeing someone else while seeing her. "You're so pretty, could I get the nerve?" She knows what he's doing but she's not sure whether she should confront him about it. "You said, 'I love you, pretty' what do I deserve?" She doesn't really think that he thinks she's pretty because if she is, she wouldn't be deserving this kind of treatment. So she goes home "to feel ugly again" and doesn't let him in because she's trying to figure out what to do with him and trying to figure out if maybe he really does care about her. And towards the end, as her vocals become stronger and more angry, she's asking the guy what he thinks the other girl would say in a threatening way ("I wonder what pretty has to say...") She basically feels lied to and wonders what it's like to be pretty, being the look or the other girl.
That's my interpretation. I don't know. She might just think she's pretty, but really ugly on the inside. |

| Marilyn Manson – Coma Black Lyrics

I think that this is a song that continues from "Coma White". I think "Coma White" was about a girl...named Coma White. She tried to take drugs to make her happy, but that couldn't "save her from herself", so she killed herself. In "Coma White", Coma says "...a world that threw me away today, to run away." and in this song (Coma Black, duh.) it mentions running away, too, but not singular..."we were too dumb to run, too dead to die." I think this means Coma Black was Coma White's lover. Coma Black probably denied Coma White's suicidalness at first ("My mouth was a crib and it was growing lies") and had problems expressing his love to her ("I would have told her then she was the only thing that I could love in this dying world, but the simple word of "love" itself
already died and went away"). Now Coma Black feels out of place because he misses her so much ("This was never my world you took the angel away, I'd kill myself to make everybody pay") In this case, Coma White is the angel who couldn't take living in a perfect world anymore (Coma White:"You were from a perfect world, a world that threw me away...") And as for "Apple of Discord", "Her heart's bloodstained egg. We didn't handle with care. It's broken and bleeding and we can never repair": this stands for Coma White's dead hope and heart, and no one really tried to help her, they should have "handled with care". But now they can't repair it. So, yeah, I guess the Eden Eye is the "perfect world" and now that he's "burned all the good things" in it and lost his love who he never got to tell how much he cared, he feels like killing himself to get back at it (the perfect world).
And those are my thoughts/two cents. What do you all think? |
