I don't know, the lyrics seem kind of dark to me as well like 'Your hands are like a rusty knife' and 'will I be burnt black?' so it seems ambiguous. |

Maybe you are right Cyrene, about the chicken thing meaning boy and girl or male and female. And it's like a metaphor for which 'colour' or which 'chicken' she prefers, as she learnt later on...? lol Or...who knows? |

this song was on Kill the Rockstars but isnt it a cover of a song by another band, like Ben Lee's band when he was like thirteen or something? anywho, i love how kathleen hanna sings it and how she changed the words to 'But he thinks he can be a better girl than me.' oh yeah, and the beastie boys rock too |

I like this song because it's different but that sample where it goes 'If it's gonna be that kinda party ima stick my dick in the mash potatos' kind of interrupts the song and it's kind of annoying |

they were probably kidding around and didn't fully realise the impact of their lyrics b4 but they're sorry now :) look at song for the man and i think that they sed once that their first album started off as a joke that went to far and people believed that they were really like that. |

| Beastie Boys – I Don't Know Lyrics

I think it's about MCA trying contemplating on who he is and going on a journey of self-discovery I guess and it's like about why he became a buddha because of the first line it says 'What's pleasing to the eye/ In the delusion of my sight' so he shouldn't be preocuppied with or fooled by material possessions and how it can be hard and confusing to figure out what to do and also staying with it but he feels that 'there is no other worthy quest' so it gives him some purpose and it is worth it in the end and spiritually enriching. That's what I think it's about anyway.
Yeah, I love this song too. It is so honest and shows a totally different, vulnerable side to MCA. When I played it the first time though, at first I was like 'wha...?' coz I thought either my CD player had gone crazy or i had coz well...it didn't sound like them. |

Basically it's an old school hip-hop song when rappers would battle and it's about how good they are at rapping, how much they love rapping and giving props to old-school hip-hop. |

Yeah, their english accents are dope on this song. I heard it's going to be their next single...
But does Adrock say at the beginning 'kickin lyrics right to your brain, when you hear this sayin you'll be right as rain'? Or is it sane? |

i dunno about anyone else but if you read the lyrics carefully, i think it's saying how guys who use all these lines and lies to pick up chicks so that they can get in their pants don't always have it good in the end and well, deserve it. |

i think this song has a deeper meaning to it. it's showing how ridiculous violence and discrimmination is, thus 'You made the mistake you judge a man by his race, You go through life with egg on your face.' |

| Eminem – Cleaning Out My Closet Lyrics

i used to like eminem but now i think he is just annoying. the thing that irks me is he's a hypocrit and you know, just because a lot of people discrimminate or say discrimminating things that doesn't make it right, which is what ignorant people seem to think and that is why it's accepted as ok in society. and that is so stupid how people say something is 'gay.' but don't get me wrong, eminem has talent. Is the best m.c? well, that's debatable. but he says all this shit about people and then whines about people being mad at him. i mean, what does he expect? and why is he still complaining anyway? he's just another whiny celebrity. but it sells him records so you know, good for him. and if you like him then, whatever floats your boat. |

i think this song could be about any of those meanings about a relationship that has died whether it's emotionally or physically, although i agree mostly with the feeling of insecurity about loving someone and also the breaking up part. But they all make sense and it's up to the individual to decide what it means. However, I'm not so sure about the drug thing... I mean, a metaphoric or more creative approach in writing doesn't neccessarily mean it's about drugs. Hell, I've written some poetry in english that sounded like it could be about drugs when it had a totally different theme. And I'm sure if you took apart any piece of creative or symbolic writing you'd most probably find ways in how it could relate to drugs. But that's my opinion, anyway. |

| Linkin Park – Breaking The Habit Lyrics
| 21 years ago
|
I agree that this song could be about either self-mutilation or suicide but I think that the 'habit' could also be about hostility maybe. I think it's saying how he has all this anger in him and self-deprecating thoughts because, 'I'm picking me apart again' and he might lash out at people (or vice versa) which turns into fights with people but he hates fighting and doesn't mean to and questions why he does it thus,
'I don't want to be the one
The battles always choose
Cause inside I realize that I'm the one confused
I don't know what's worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
I don't know why I instigate
And say what I don't mean
I don't know how I got this way
I know it's not alright '
.
It's emotionally and physically draining as it says, 'I try to catch my breath again' and he can't express how he is feeling to everyone else or even himself which triggers self-harm or depressing thoughts as 'Memories consume Like opening the wounds.
I'm picking me apart again.' He thinks it's his fault for all the pain he and other people feel 'Cause inside I realize that I'm the one confused', or maybe he also doesn't want to be living with them either anymore, and thinks the only way out is by commiting suicide because he might 'have no options left again.' Maybe he is depressed but no one understands this and thinks he just has a bad 'habit.' It also says 'again' so he may have thought about committing suicide before and didn't go through with it but now he 'hurts much more than any time before' or perhaps it didn't work. He doesn't know how to say what is going through his head so by committing suicide he can 'have some clarity, To show you what I mean. ' So the 'habit' could be his inability to communicate his feelings with others which leads in fights and violent outbursts which he thinks is wrong and feels guilty and regretful about, because the chorus is says that he doesn't know why he 'instigates' those things towards others and then says, 'I don't know how I got this way, I know it's not alright. So I'm breaking the habit tonight.' But I think everyone is right about all the different meanings. This is just another slightly different idea. |
