in reference to the comment by ssiprincessbura, trent most likely did not get the idea from tori amos but from hanzel und gretyl. on their 1997 release, _transmissions from uranus_, they've got a track called "starf***er" (track 10), which sounds an AWFUL lot like starfuckers, inc. methinks this is where he got the "idea" for the song. i heard the nin version first, and i stumbled upon this album (which is really, really good if you're into tongue-in-cheek industrial techno), and when i heard that song, i got this sense of shock, much like when toto pulled back the curtain to reveal the "GREAT AND POWERFUL OZ". so far, i can tell that "starfuckers, inc." was "borrowed" from hanzel und gretyl's "starf***er", "a warm place" was "borrowed" from philip glass's "koyaanisqatsi", and trent freely admits to borrowing from skinny puppy's "dig it" to make "down in it". any other songs that sound "similar" to nin songs? |

it's about a lover of his who cheated on him and brought back an incurable std to the relationship (thereby confirming the infidelity). it should be pretty obvious. the song is called "reptile". what do you call a person who studies reptiles? |
