Good job... Rob Aston is a major pothead. This song is him basically saying "I smoke weed because I hate everyone." Hell, that's the reason alot of people use as much as they do. But yes, you are correct, this song is about drugs, but what he's trying to say is that everyone sucks. "The reason that I spark it." |

| Mindless Self Indulgence – I Hate Jimmy Page Lyrics | 20 years ago |

"You stupid fuckers all need to be shot at least twice in the head. Jimmy Page is a fuckin' God, and these mother fuckers have no fuckin' idea that Jimmy Page could buy their whole fuckin' career with the change in his pockets. I hate stupid, ignorant people who can't learn to appreciate the REAL musicians in this world. This shit won't last more than 5 years, yet Led Zeppelin has been around for at least 4 decades and people are still buying their albums. This song is a bunch of shit. Doesn't fuckin' make one bit of sense. Whoever the fuck can say that this shit is talent shouldn't be allowed to open their mouths. I'm looking forward to all your ignorant, lame comments so please tell me you have to say" You do realize that Led Zeppelin is just an old emo band right? |

I'm going to throw any shred of dignity I have left out the window. This song almost makes me cry. |

| Green Day – Holiday Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| It's funny how the first three tracks of this album are political satire and the rest of the album is a love story, yet the only thing anyone ever talks about is the anti-Bush element. | |

"Scattered is the perfect example of a naive, close minded and (dare I say it? Nah, it might make him go crying home to his mother. Hell, who gives a shit?) IDIOTIC Green Day listener." Shutup jerk. You're lucky my mom doesn't know you or she'd probably tell your mom you're a stupid head. Now that I have the immature personal attacks aside, that's your opinion and you are more than entitled to it. However, I was a little shocked to find out Green Day did not like Bush, like you said, but I do not actually care, unlike you said. How does Billy Joe Armstrong affect my life? Why the hell would I care if his opinions differ from mine? He's 15 years older than me and from a completely different side of the country. I do agree with them some things, but not on other things. But whether I agree or disagree with Green Day affects my life very little. But often times I lie awake at night wondering if you, lucky guess rox, agree with me. It seems you don't. Well, I guess asphyxiation is on the menu for tonite... I hope my opinion means as little to you as yours does to me. I'm going to eat a doughnut now. |

MrPryMinista: I thought the same thing. I think it's just so the troops get warm fuzzies inside when they come back, because people are proud of them. |

| Yeah, I agree with Thunderbolt on that. | |

That's when war crimes became illegal. You have proved yourself to be a worthy opponent. Good for you! No seriously, thanks for backing up your opinions and not just saying "BuSh SuCkS cUz HeS sToOpId!!!1" |

"Muslim insurgents are trying to kill us because we invaded their country, genius. Things like that tend to piss people off, don't they?" When did we invade them? They're made that we set foot in their land when we were helping them fight Russia. |
|
| Green Day – Holiday Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Hmm, here I was thinking that muslim insurgents were actually trying to kill our whole entire race, but evidently we just decided to go to war one day. | |
| Green Day – Holiday Lyrics | 21 years ago |

So, you're saying we should vote on who we want to go to war with? Well, considering all the war-craving, blindly-patriotic rednecks that live here, and the whiny, everyone-should-be-comfortable-all-the-time liberals we also have here, we would get absolutely nowhere. |

fas·cism Audio pronunciation of "fascism" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (fshzm) n. 1. often Fascism 1. A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism. 2. A political philosophy or movement based on or advocating such a system of government. 2. Oppressive, dictatorial control. Wow, that's funny... I always thought Dictionaries were correct, but evidently Fascism isn't a form of dictatorship, it's a form of Democracy. You're a fucking idiot. If the US was under a Fascist government, there would be no "American Idiot." |

I like Jesus Of Suburbia's post, but I think the "She admits she wants to sell to anyone willing to buy" is Whatsername sick of being alone and just wanting to be with anyone at all. It's hard to explain... |

Hey brokenwings, maybe no one listens to you because your grammar is incorrect and you're points make no sense. For example, you said you hated John Kerry because he was a lemming. Then you proceeded to spell the word "lemming" two different ways. Fruitonpie: I think you're correct, but I'm pretty sure that Holiday takes place during an anti-war rally. Arbuckle: I haven't seen the video for this song yet, where di you see it? |

Yeah, I wish all "punks" were like you, because you do what you think you should do, not what makes you look like a every other punk. Anyways, I don't know exactly what he means by "On Holiday." He could be talking about how we spend Veteran's Day praising all these soldiers that don't want to kill or die or fight anymore. I don't know. I'm listening to Reject. The meaning of this song is so much clearer... |

Don't feel bad, I don't think anyone's offended. I have problems with alot of people that get offended when I try to argue with them. "I don't hate you, I just disagree with you goddammit!" Anyways, I'm glad you're thinking for yourself and not just doing what Eminem (or someone else) tells you to do. Like with P. Diddy's "Vote or die" bullshit. It's like telling some 19 year old to go vote for something that the majority of them know nothing about. As for the stereotyping stuff, I keep hearing how I should stereotype people when they have a spike through their nose and they do everything every other "punk" the know does. If you don't want to be stereotyped, don't look and act so damn stereotypical. I'm pretty sure punk is about being independent, and I see very little independence in "punks." I'm not saying that you act like that, I just feel like bitching :) |

| Oh, he might have. I thought on the whole CNN thing someone said he was a Kerry supporter, but it didn't really make sense to me becuase John Stewart doesn't seem very liberal. | |

"by nopattern you guys are killing me.... "it rox", "sean don", "how does one go about dropping it like its hot." what the hell? are you a bunch of uncultured 7th graders? well, probably..." Nopattern, the fact that my grammar is correct and the fact that I listen to real music proves I'm more cultured than your uneducated ass. |

I agree completely with Airsoftsam and puddrulesall. Thank you for thinking for yourselves. The album is about the birth and death of the American Dream, it is not Anti-Bush. Have you even heard the album? Green Day's views of Bush have very little to do with this story. The only time Bush is even mentioned is in Holiday, where Jesus Of Suburbia is attending an anti-war rally. So, my friend, you are the idiot. Airsoftsam: Where did you hear John Stewart voted for Bush? I heard he was a Kerry supporter, but if you have a link, could you please post it? That's awesome. And the Eiffel Tower thing refers to Bush's ignorance of French opposition to the war in Iraq. You other guys: Comparing Bush to Hitler is complete bullshit. Hitler was an oppressive brain-washing dictator bent on ruling the world with his perfect race. Bush is not brain-washing us, nor is he trying to kill anyone without Blue eyes and Blonde hair. Your cultural stagnance leads me to believe that you have no idea what radical muslims are actually trying to do to us. I don't want to panic your simple mind, but they are actually trying to murder our whole race. Therefore, you can compare Saddam Hussein to Hitler better than you can compare Bush to him. Why is it Punks are so "ANARCHY!" but politically support more government intervention? Culture of Fear: I had no idea what he meant by Holiday, but Drag86 said he might be talking about Veteran's Day. I personally think that makes sense. As for the "Representative from Cali" part, BJ's most likely talking about himself, that's where Green Day is from. Thanks for reading. |

"20+7 is 27, and he has a tattoo on his right arm that says 27, with a circle around it..... i was just wondering if anyone knew if there was a signifigance?" That's a good idea, I never really thought of that. I remember him saying on a Howard Stern interview that one of his tattoos was some band's symbol thing, and I always assumed it was that one, but you may be right. |

No no no no no no....this album is not anti-bush. Bush not target The war, the media's coverage of it, the government's actions, the apathy of the younger generation and the moral confusion of the album's central figure, Jesus of Suburbia, would end up as dominant themes, though Dirnt is quick to point out that Green Day is not "out to topple President Bush," as some journalists have suggested. Bush, in fact, is never mentioned by name anywhere on the album. "People draw that conclusion immediately, but the song is actually more of a personal perspective of feeling disenfranchised and losing your individuality, about being pissed off and scared and all of that," Dirnt says. from http://www.jsonline.com/onwisconsin/music/nov04/272649.asp |

It's funny how so many people can compare Bush to Hitler, I don't recall Bush trying to commit Genocide or trying to conquer the free world. davidecoyote, you're so right about damn near every song I've seen so far, but I disagree with the "Daily Show" thing. I think The Daily Show is supposed to bring a lighter side to news, I don't think it's cynical at all. |
