| I very well could be about Kirk. It could be about James, Lars, or Kirk. James actually allowed the other two to write lyrics for this album. Being void of a permanent bassist during the recording, however, they did not let Bob Rock write lyrics. | |

It's really simple, I think a lot of people are trying to look WAY too deep into these songs by Metallica!! James cleaned up his act. Now he sees the world-and those certain things he used to do-from a different perspective. |

Ok, it's easy to figure out what this song is about. "Forgive me Father, for I have sinned, find me guilty of the life I feel within" He's talking about life, not a baby inside, he's talking about how he lives. The same way you say "Wow, the party really came to life when you got here" is the way he's asking forgiveness for the life in him, because he's doing bad things. He's also saying that he knows his father must give blame, although he is merely shadowing things his father has done in the past. |
