Yeah i know, i just saw them for the fourth time last thursday in DC. They put on a great live show. What surprised me is that they headlined over Icon of Coil, who i thought to be a much more widely know band. |

I can see where you would think that this could be about pledging, it is a very dificult and emotional time, and most of the song goes along with that theory. But i would have to agree with the drug overdoese due to the first stanza. First of all "past the road to your house," usually you pass a frat house, the road its on isnt so sacred that you get chills jsut from passing it, which is what this line implies, but hey, i could be wrong on that. The "where they turned out your lights" part, i dont see how that could easily be twisted to go along with the pledging senerio. In order for them to turn out "your" lights you would have had to have a room there, which, of course, pledglings do not. Not to mention, i had a friend who tried to kill herself, and right after they pumped her stomach, they took her up the the hospitol psyciatirc ward and gave her anti-depressive meds, so i guess that part is true to the overdose theory, and thats just sick and overly sadistic to put a pledgling through perminant physical dammage like that, (mental damage i can deal with.) So i cant really buy the frat story. |

This is one of my favorite songs. Its easy to relate to, which is what makes it so sad. The dreams of our youth have been courrupted. Like when you go into politics thinking you can change things for the better and just end up working for some tobacco lobby. Or if you love something so much you make it your business, soon it just becomes about the money and youve lost the passion. It is a universal tragedy. |

I have to agree with deepred on this one, and if they are trying to be serious, then that's just sad. but here's my little story on the GAP-Goth movemnt- Im now in a really small chicken farm town, and they just gave us a hot topic. The first week there i decided to go check it out thinking there are no goths here, where the hell are they gonna get business. Sure enough there were kids who dressed as goth as they could in black sweat pants and teeshirts, who had spray died their hair, and pretty much did a really pathetic job of gothing themselves out so that they could shop there. Then they proceded to buy maybe 6 outfits, (about all that any given hot topic carries at one time) These kids were becoming goth over night. This is a sad sad time to be goth. |

I saw the Cruxshadows in a small club once, and durring Rogue's little wandering throughout the crowd preformance he got up on a bar stool. We couldnt help but notice that he was repeatedly checking himself out in the mirror. Rogue is entirely too into himself, which is why i think its funny to picture this when listing to this song: Rogue standing in front of a full lenght mirror singing this song to himself while giving a something staph-guy from creed-type (I listen to cruxshadows, im not supposed to know the guys name) performance. It always makes me giggle. None the less it is still a great song with so much passion. And rachel is amazing on this whole album, it does an excelent job of highlighting her tallent. |

Beautiful song, with georgous background vocals. The song follows with the album's greek mythology theme, it is the story of Cassandra who prophasized tragety, but no one listened, and eventually they fell. However I believe there is a duel meaning to the song and i guess you can interperate the other half any way you want. |

I'd have to say that this is the best VNV song. It evokes so much emotion, both good and bad. It reminds me of those times when you are truely happy, the world is perfect, and you are sourounded by people, or the person you love. You are alone in the world and know that it would be hard for things to get any more perfect. But you know that its going to end. Nothing stays perfect forever, eventually people fall out of love, the weather turns cold, and you wonder if it could ever be that wonderful again. While this is a somewhat happy song, i find it increadibly depressing. |

I agree that it seems theat Newo was captured, but i think this is also a battle with himself. He doest want to be a part of this, but he is force into it, and inorder to achieve the ultamate good he has to engage in a mass slaughter that he doesnt believe in. I could be way off, but the immages this song gives me has more to do with claudio's side having the strength and power, but due to the moral problem they are having they dont want to kill, and it gives the other side an advantage. But that has nothing to do with the lyrics, that is jsut something weird that i got. So im most likely wrong. |

I think the ring at the begining of this song is in refernce to delerium trigger, when he says, "when it rings will you answer." I read somewhere that Apollo is a project that Newo Ikkin was working on, which makes sense. But i also read a post from Claudio on his website that said Apollo is Newo's dog. I dont know. |

I think this song's interperatation is farily obvious... about the carelessness of the youth, and the powerlesness of the wise, which only leads to death and distruction. This song is incredably powerful, but i dont know if it leaves much hope for our future... this band has a great message, unfortunately no one has ever heard of them. |

I agree with the immages invoked by this song, and i think that just about every vnv song invokes immages that are stronger than the lyrics, infact some of the immages i get have nothing to do with the lyrics... ( and no not an acid trip) But i think that this song has to do mainly with the tyrents and leaders of the past. Just from the lyrics i get immages of the bombings and concentration camps of wwII. Sever the line to the guilty past... this last part mainly is about the leaders such as hitler who had promising goals, and beautiful promises of a better world, then all they got was death. (sounds alot like a current administration)

this is the most powerful part in the song in my opinion i think it sums it up quite well. THe screams of falling steal- the buildings full of innocent people that had to die in the name of "progress" for the flares of wisdom- these leaders who claim to have the answers. The gods whose names weve lost are those leaders that we praised and looked up to, but who only turned out to be false prophets, killing people in vein. |

I think this song mainly has to do with the god complex, and how we have been playing god for so long. The huge sky scraper buildings we have rule the night, they have conquored nature and have an incredible power to them, (a real eqo trip to the human race) But thier reign ends when the sun comes up, no mater how much control we have over nature, productive or distructive, we will never compare to the power the sun has over us. It is our guardian durring the day and the ultimate giver and taker of life, and no matter how hard we try to prove we are god, we can not compare to that power, however, we will continue on our paths of distruction to prove that wrong. ... a little side note, if you like this type of theme and style of music check out blindhammer by assmeblage 23, i think it has a similar message, both bands are fucking incredable. |

So since this is all part of a sci-fi story its hard to interperte jsut one song, because they all fit together. Claudio, the son of coheed and cambria is just waking up from a long sleep, i dont know if he knows wheather or not his parents are dead yet. He is in love with ikkon newo, (nikki owen) But i dont know if he fell in love with her in his sleep. Also when he wakes up he has a fairy gardian (ambellina) and i dont think he is burning her wings as an evil thing, i think it may be a way to make her more powerful or more human. and i think it was her who told him about his parents deaths, and the battle that had taken place. He is split three ways i think between the love for ikkon, the revenge he seeks for his parents, and im not sure what the thrid is. feel free to add or correct. |

So the deal on co and ca, is that their albums all contribute to a kind of sci-fi trillogy. This is on the thrid album in the series, (the first hasnt been released, for those of you who were about to argue) But the main question is what the story is actually about and i myself have theories but no real answers, so here are my theories on this song. (everything that follows may be false) the second album is mainly the story of claudio, second son of coheed and cambria. He has some secret, which i think somehow relates to the monster that his father had in him, that eventually killed him. He is in love with ikkin newo, and tells her his secret, because he has waited his whole live to share it with someone, he doesnt want to walk alone in the dark. Ths gets complicated in the next three songs in the velorium camper when she is captured by some other evil pilot, Al. He is in love with her, and i believe she tells him... but after that i get confused. Feel free to add or correct. |
