I am POSITIVE that Chevelle did a live cover of the Cure's "picture of you", I have it on mp3 and it's definately not the Cure... Anyways, it's the same lyrics, just done by chevelle... At the beginning of my mp3, he dedicates the song to one of his friends.. and my computer is being really gay right now, and wont let me listen to the song, so I'll let you know what his friend's name is later. I think this is a beautiful song, I'll always have a soft spot for acustic songs (that are good of course)... I've never heard chevelle this way before... besides an mp3 I have called "pictures of you" which I'm pretty sure is chevelle... hm.. well I love chino.. even though he did a song with Korn... but I guess it's alright cuz it's when they were kool, unlike now... (don'tworry munky, I still love you) but this song is really kool, Chino really knows how to break it down... I don't think there is another time where he totally goes down with him hip-hop side again like this... I don't think that I've ever heard such a good cover. I have to say there are only enough GOOD covers to count on one of my hands, and this is definately one of them. ...... I don't know what to say about these lyrics.... I must say they sound a little off... wipe? I dunno... but I do know that the Deftones are my favorite band of all, they have a really unique sound and they kick ass. This song is awesome, as a matter of fact I can't believe no one had anything to say about it... I have the video when they do it with Jon Davis, when Chino still had dreads.... too bad Jon has always thought he was god... and decided to "milk" his attention.. oh well. I've been listening to chevelle for a while now. and now that this song is getting more air time, everyone has been coming up to me telling me how much they like chevelle now, I keep telling them that they have got to hear more, that the band itself kicks ass, and that their whole sound is amazing, not just this song. I haven't gotten a chance to see the video yet, but I'm not sure anything will ever compare with "Mia"'s video, that one totally hit home with me. Anyways, I think it was a great pick from the new album to put out as their newest single, but I hope that their turnout doesn't end up like S.O.A.D.'s did... I would hate to have them become a "bubble gum" band with all their talents, but people are looking for a new sound, something different from Korn and Staind, and I think Chevelle might be it... rock on, farewell! *FSQ* |

I think it's really heavy, and I think that this new album they have out is a lot more out there then their last one. Perhaps their inpiration changed?? Point #1 is such an amazing song, and I can't believe that only 2 people have anything to say about it. Haven't you all seen the video??? Anyways, the lyrics are awesome, and can be taken so many different ways. It has such a powerful riff around the bridge... kick ass.... It starts off all sweet and calm, and is ripping your skull apart at the end... typical Chevelle... kick ass.. I'd like to think this song is about independence to one's self, "back off peer, I am on top of this- bcak off, I need to to make decisions, and I want to leave" And you know what?? Oh my lord... no one has anything to say about one of their first singles??? I first heard this song on MTVX (which was STUPIDLY removed!!! damn you MTV JAMS!!!) And with the song I also saw the video. I loved it from the beginning. The video looks like it's about this "parent" of some sort trying to protect it's "child" from all the things of the world. At one point it's stolen and given back, and the "parent" puts the "child" inside it's body, through a door to it's heart. Inside the "child" stays calm and content by the light of their heart, like no matter what happens, the "parent's" heart is beating to keep them alive, and will take all the bullets for them.
The song however says something totally different to me. I read somewhere that when he says "I'm made of peanuts not of shells" it means he's made of what's on the inside, not exactly what you see. Other than that I have no idea what the song is really about, just my perception baby.. heh |

What an awesome song... but of course I will go ahead and say that about every other Chevelle song.. but that's alright right?? In my own perception, I would guess this song is about a guy who is in a relationship with this chick, who leaves for a relationship with someone else. (Remember it's all about perception!!) I hear a lot of sarcasm in the song, like "Now these two, treat them well, upon themselves, showed up again" Like they took it upon themselves to get where they are know and they *should definately be admired for that* (*'s are for the sarcasm hehe) Yeah it's a creepy song, but I love how this band leaves a lot for your own imagination, not too much detail, they just like to paint you a foggy picture that's really out of focus. and let you find the beauty in it. |

This song made me cry when I first heard it, I never thought a song could really decribe me like this one does. I've had the same boyfriend for almost two years now. One night he decided to tell me all the aweful things he had done in the past year and a half. And it's true, I can never get him out of my head. I love this song the best because of it's lyrics, but also the music is really good, a big set back from the rest of the cd. I would kill to just thank Sugarcult for this song, just for writing it and realising that shit like this happens to us "Pretty Girls" ;) |
