Sia – Little Black Sandals Lyrics
|
i don't know that it's necessarily about a romantic relationship. i think it could also be taken as a relationship with god, one that has fallen apart. i felt the same way when i fell out of the christian faith -- sometimes i wanted to go back to that blind faith, blind ignorance, just because it was comforting. but i also feel like i lost some time while i was a christian.
anyway, that's just what i got out of it. |

BT – Shame Lyrics

not to be bizarre or anything, but does anyone else get a sexual undertone in this song? "frozen wall / like teenage skin" makes me think of the hymen ... but maybe that's just me. regardless, this is a beautiful song. bt = love |

Dave Matthews Band – The Dreaming Tree Lyrics
| 23 years ago
|
this is, in my opinion, the best song the band has done yet. lyrically, musically, emotionally .. everything .. it's just so beautiful. i agree with the comments on innocence and losing what you hold dear -- dreams especially.
and i thought of the giving tree as well. both song and book make me cry. |

Dave Matthews Band – Seek Up Lyrics

seek up on live at red rocks is my favorite song played live that i've ever heard from any band. as far as dmb songs go, it's second only to the dreaming tree.
there are just so many messages in this song. i could cry when he sings so softly on red rocks, "ashes to ashes, dust to dust." |

The Smashing Pumpkins – Ava Adore Lyrics

i'm in agreement with porcelainhope about it describing a destructive relationship.
i love the acoustic version where he sings, "... and i'll pull your crooked teeth / you'll be perfect just like billy ..." hahaha. |

R.E.M. – Disappear Lyrics

this is one of the songs i feel i can relate to the most. a sense of utter hopelessness, almost completely defeated, but finding someone unexpectedly at your side when you had given up hope: "... i looked for you and everywhere / tell me why you're here / i came to disappear ..." |

R.E.M. – Saturn Return Lyrics

even though it's a fairly new one, i think this may be my favorite rem song. it's so unbelievably beautiful. at first, i heard it several times, only half listening, until finally looked down at the lines on my wrist and almost cried at how beautiful that part of the song is. our escape route to the stars lies within ourselves. |

R.E.M. – Losing My Religion Lyrics
|
i can't remember if it was on pop-up video or not, but i'm pretty sure the phrase "losing my religion" refers to losing one's temper .. and i think it came from the south. i'm pretty sure that's right but i may be wrong. in any case, this is one of the first songs i (personally) ever heard by rem, and i absolutely loved it. i was a kid and had no idea what it meant, but i loved it. i think it's about looking for god ... walking, running, stumbling ... trying to catch up and tap god on the shoulder and ask him what the hell we're all doing here.
that's just my take on it though. |
