A Perfect Circle – Judith Lyrics 20 years ago
This is about an actual woman whom Maynard knows. This is simply his way to saying that she needs to break free of believing in garbage and to believe in herself. Xtians and most other "believers" are simply masochists. Plus I haven't found an album he's written without an anti-Xtian song on there somewhere. And no, Eulogy isn't technically about Christ, Danny Carey stated in an interview that it's about L. Ron Hubbard the founder of Scientology. Fuck L. Ron Hubbard and fuck all his clones...

A Perfect Circle – Blue Lyrics 20 years ago
This song's meaning is so simple it amazes me that people don't see it. It's about watching someone self-destruct and chosing that it's easier/better for you to do nothing but watch. "Best to keep things in the shallow end, Cause I never quite learned how to swim" And "she's turning blue" as in the fact that she's drowning. Songs that Maynard writes are rarely something happy or that are in some way light, he tells us to "think for yourself, question authority" when he's not saying to "take off your pants" (the only reason I'm glad that I missed seeing APC last time they played near me, I would have taken off my pants and gotten arrested just for the Hell of it.) And yes it is aftermath, as in he's starting to see the results of his choice to do nothing when he could have saved someone.

Nine Inch Nails – Kinda I Want To Lyrics 22 years ago
This song is about a short lived addiction to crack cocaine suffered by Trent Reznor. He is singing about his crackpipe on the other side of the room. (I got this from an interview I don't make this shit up)

Nine Inch Nails – Closer Lyrics 22 years ago
You are all crack-heads. This is a song about someone who hates themselves and finds an escape in mindless sex. This is in no way a happy party song either. He gets closer to god because of the fact that when he's with someone he can feel better about his own insecurities. And when he does this he takes something from the other person.

Tool – Jimmy Lyrics 22 years ago
This song is about a young Maynard. Here's the proof, he is Maynard James Keenan; James = Jimmy what little kid wants to go through life being called Maynard? Second the title is lowercase jimmy not Jimmy to show that it's a child. Thirdly Maynard grew up in Ohio, which goes with the lie "under a dead Ohio sky". and lastly eleven is when his mother married his stepfather whom he hates so much as was stated in earlier interviews.

Tool – You Lied (Peach cover) Lyrics 22 years ago
Hey Sober only one problem, when Danny the bass player joined the band his old band Peach had just broken up, and this just so happens to be a Peach song covered by Tool.

Tool – Sober Lyrics 22 years ago
This song is about an arist who feels that he can only perform while intoxicated. All the while he is mocked by his peers for this. It addresses the problems with drugs "I am just a worthless liar...I will work to elevate you just enough to bring you down" and the fact that he can't seem to quit. In the video you can watch the character open his "secret box" to get high only to come back down twice as fast as he went up. Also in the you can watch as he moves to harder drugs. The moral of the story, (which seems ironic) don't do drugs.

Tool – Prison Sex Lyrics 22 years ago
Ok first off Maynard was never abused by his father nor has he ever admitted to being abused at all. In very early interviews he eluded to his hatred for his stepfather but would never go into detail. Secondly if any of you are real fans you would have heard "Prison Sex OTRM" (if anyone needs a copy of it or any other Tool song feel free to e-mail me at "Trentisgod50@hotmail.com") He adds the lyrics
"Show me something
Thought I could make it end
Thought I could wash the stains away
Thought I could break the circle if I
Slipped right into your skin
So sweet was your surrender
We have become one
I have become my terror
And you my precious lamb and martyr."
This is where the cirlce is completed and yet again the cycle of abuse begins. It seems apparent that something happened to Maynard when he was young, (the song "jimmy" is about a young Maynard too), but all we can do is specualte. I can tell you that this has nothing to do this rape in a prison but most likely it's called Prison Sex because the abused feels as if they are in an inescapable prison in what should be their safest place...their home.

Tool – Message to Harry Manback Lyrics 22 years ago
This wasn't sent to Maynard's answering machine, it was a close friend of his after they got an obnoxious Italian guest drunk and then left him in a park. The name Harry Manback is an acronym for his friend's name which I cannot remember right now.

Tool – Intolerance Lyrics 22 years ago
This song is mocking the Army's pledge of "I will not lie, cheat, or steal, nor will I tolerate anyothers who do". This comes from his upbringing in a military school.

Tool – Eulogy Lyrics 22 years ago
Danny from the band eluded to the fact that Maynard wrote this as an attack upon L. Ron Rubbard. Although there are paralels to Jesus in this song and we know that Jesus isn't Maynard's hero, (Opiate), this song can very simply be anyone we want it to be... "think for yourself, question authority, strive to be different, strive to be unique, Never repeat things other people say"-Maynard's Non-Conformist's Pledge

Tool – Die Eier Von Satan Lyrics 22 years ago
This is the perfect example of what Tool means and why it shouldn't be a mainstream band, this song is asking us to think for ourselves and not take things at face value. aka German = Satanism

Tool – Cold and Ugly Lyrics 22 years ago
This song is about a young girl who has been hurt deeply (most likely sexual or emotional abuse from a family member or friend) and now will no longer open herself up to others. He sees this in her and wants her to know that he is just like her, he is cold and ugly too.
