| To me, this song is about a relationship that is great in the begining; they're learning about eachother and starting to fall in love, but somewhere along the line, they start to fall aprart instead of falling in love. The chorus, to me, just means that thew'll stay together in November, in December they'll stay together b/c it's lonely during the holidays, in January they'll make unrealistic resolutions to hold on to oneanother, and finally they know that they are only safe until St. Patrick's Day b/c after that, they have no excuses for holding on anymore. | This song was played at a friend's weddding that I went to a few years ago and it's beautiful lyrics aways bring back that moment in my mind. The groom and the bride hadn't picked their "first dance song" and decided, rather, to suprise one another on the day of their wedding with the song of their choice. Wow, I'm so surprised that only one persn has commented on this song so far...this song is def. on my top 5 list of fav. cc songs. I heard in an interview w/ adam that this song was about a girl he was seeing at the time who came from a really traditional, strick family and they always had to sneak around to be with eachother. The interview ends w/ adam saying that he knew this couldn't go on forever, and it had to eventually end...living a lie isn't living. I think that explains: "Pretty soon now I won't come around ...I'm almost drowning in her sea. She's nearly crawling on her knees, It's almost everything I need." If you love the Counting Crows, and you haven't heard this song, go homeand listen to it for a bit. It's one of those songs that makes you fall in love with the band all over again. |

I think that this song is about Ken (the lead singer) at the wedding a someone who he used to be in love with. I think that they are still friends, but he is sitting at her wedding reflecting on how her life is complete but his is still unfinnished i.e.- "while your story's completed mine is a long way from done." This is a truly amazing and beautiful song about a guy who just wasn't ready for a life-time commitment, and his girlfriend left him to find someone who could give her what she really needed. The background vocal are amazing too...the song sounds great with the girl's voice sailing over the chorus. |

What an amazing song. I love 3eb and this song is by far their best song to me. I think that a lot of people can relate to this song because everyone has lost someone and felt like they couldn't hold themselves together. Alcohol does some seriously messed up crap to those who abuses it, but this song shows how it effects everyone around them, not just the abuser. I agree with FRoguy, but I also think that the song is talking about how you get to this point in life when everyone around you is begining to settle down and you're so far from that point in your life. You feel like they're leaving you behind becaue they're moving on with their lives and you're stuck in this place that you can't get away from. To me, the song's all about realizing that all your life you've wanted something better, but you've never done anything to change it. This is such a great song that it's hard to believe that a 17 year old wrote it! I think this songs about a girl who fell for this guy, but he's nothing like she thought he was. He's so wrapped up in himself and his front that he can't see how he's hurting her and himself. Around everyone else, he's this tough guy and all she wants is for him to smile, tell her that she's not stupid for taking a chance, again. This song means a lot to me because about a year ago, i lost someone very close to me because of drugs. He became so wraped up in himself that he couldn't even all the lies that he was feeding himself. I like the line: "Its the first time I ever felt this lonely I wish someone could cure this pain Its funny when you think its gonna work out Til you chose weed over me, you're so lame I swear, Avril must of been a fly on the wall in my house because this hits so close to home. |

How can you not love this song! I get so sick sometimes of songs on the radio being so depressing, but this song is def. one that makes you think about how little some things in life really are. Everything I had ever been told in high school and by my parents is exactly what the song is talking about... "they love to tell you 'stay inside the lines' but something's better on the other side" I don't think that there's anything worng with taking the straight path though...what's straight for you is totally wrong for someone else, you just need to remeber to do what makes you happy no matter how much people dissaprove of you. |
