Tool – Undertow Lyrics 24 years ago
yeah, i'll run with that, but i'd put it more towards a drug addiction of some kind, like herion, i'd put this towards the lyric "and it's half as high as heaven and half as clear as reason." you see, there's two points in getting high. There's the low point, when you're straight, and there's your high point, the point of euphoria. When you first get high, it's the best high you'll have, and you will never get THAT high ever again, and when you come down, you'll never get down to where you were before. So the wave of your conscienceness between being high and being straight meet in the middle, hence "it's half as high as heaven"
but that's just what i reckon.

Goldfinger – 99 Red Balloons Lyrics 24 years ago
yes, it's a cover of an old 80's (?) tune by Nena called 99 Luftballoons

luft = red

apparently it was about a dream she once had, and just thought it was kinda funny

Tool – Sober Lyrics 24 years ago
no no no, in a recent interview on TripleJ with maynard, he explained that it's about a friend of his that is an artist, and he has a drinking problem, but he always creates his greatest paintings when he's completely wasted. So he's taken that idea, that sometimes that the things that society concentrates on as being bad things that we shouldn't do, they can actually have some good points as well, and he's just gone from there.

but like with all Tool songs, there a many different meanings for their tracks, it all depends what you wanna get out of it

Tool – Eulogy Lyrics 24 years ago
aahh, no, it's clearly not about bill hicks. and yes, it's a dig at L.Ron Hubbard. but it's mainly an anti-christianity song...or just a total anti-religion song.

Ben Folds Five – Brick Lyrics 24 years ago
saintdaddy is right. it's about a relationship he had when he was in college. She had an abortion. They both didn't want her to have an abortion, but they kinda had no choice. Ben for years had trouble dealing with it, and it eventually became their undoing, and then he wrote a song about it, and that was his way of dealing with his pain
No, it's not about taking his dog to the vet. Occasionally Ben would say shit like that about his songs, cos fans would look too deeply into his song lyrics and look for hidden meanings. but Bens said many times that he just writes the songs, and what the meaning is is right there in plain english.
